Fog of war or FOW, the misty stuff that stops you from seeing enemys outside your line of sight. For example, you are on one side of the map and your enemy on the other, you can't see what there doing till you go over there with some units, or they come over to your side with some units.

By the way, i discovered you can change the colour of fog of war in the world master by going to: Edit/level settings then change the colour

PS: on zymeths edited map you can see everything the enemy is doing, so there is no Fog of War.
