jayserp 1,911 #29 Posted July 19, 2013 If Valve are going to nerf the Escape Plan against all classes because 90% of people use it, then I think you got away lightly with a slight nerf against one sub-class

-Tristan- 948 #31 Posted July 19, 2013 I really don't understand the Targe buff either. It is by no means an underused weapon, which I thought were the ones Valve was trying to buff (Winger, Quick-Fix, etc). Maybe they were actually trying to force pyros to use shotgun/RS more with this change? I hope they do change the escape plan back. I like to play soldier from time to time, and the escape plan really makes the class more enjoyable. The additional speed boosts you can take advantage of from time to time weren't really a game changer, but they were fun and useful in small situations. If Valve was interested in promoting more variety in melee weapon choice, I think they should have adjusted the other weapons or reduced something like the damage dealt by the escape plan (so that it could still, you know, help you escape, rather than painting a big target over your head and making you take not only more damage, but damage that doesn't suffer from fall off). They should really just take away the slower overheal rate on the Vaccinator if they ever want it to be used a decent amount.

And instead of making other weapons better, they nerfed the overused one. I think it's a bit weird though because soldier melee variety is very limited. So nerfing the good one seems a little stupid, because I'm still not going to use say, the pain train. Edited July 19, 2013 by Ghost_Jor

Reisen 1,973 #34 Posted July 20, 2013 With the recent Battalions Backup and Concheror Update, all Sodier Weapons are fun to me. Zatoichi with Concheror is a whole lot of fun, so is Battalions Backup with Weapons like Blackbox. It was about time the banners get a fair chance against buff banner. the Concheror heals as good as nothing with decent damage, so the speedbonus helps you to get close to your target and maximize your damage + maximize the health gained from it. I just hope they'll nerf Concheror a bit. The speed effect is really OP in my oppinion. Not to mention that Battalions Backup is a big counter attack to Kritzkrieg and random crits. And it's a whole lot harder to get Kritz full than to get the battalions backup full. Kinda unfair, but I like it because random crits ruined the game too many times for me
SpyPersona 20 #35 Posted August 5, 2013 The new DR and Le'tranger buffs make the Spy crazy hard to kill if he's playing right. It's taken even further if you have a Spycicle. The DR already charges up fast, but you can speed up the process with ammo boxes, and on a map with a ton of pickups, sayyyyyy.... Dustbowl, you could run the same path 100 times getting kills while never getting killed yourself. This is just the ramblings of a Spy player, but thanks to the patch, I've finally found a use for my Strange Le'tranger
DutchKev 425 #36 Posted August 5, 2013 now i've gone the opposite and moved away from the Le'trager and gone for my trusty big kill instead - i found i was spending to much time runing around and not enough time stabbing - so i'm now effectively the old sahara spy with the decloak sound the pea shooter as i call is is imo, useless against a razorback sniper as it can take up to 4 shots to kill one - also same story for a sentry, 7 bullets to take a sentry down, whereas the big kill can take a sniper down in 3 short, and a sentry in 4 shots for me its all about where i uncloak now, i did hate the DR nerf, and still do, but i've just had to adapt my playstyle a little instead - i doubt i'd ever go back to the pea shooter unless i was on a larger open map, but i spend 99.9% of my time on dustbowl instead, so for me its now obsolete
- Mike - 2,728 #37 Posted August 5, 2013 Just because the sniper is wearing the razorback doesn't mean you can't poke 'em with the pointy end still. Stabs on the front or side will do more damage than the pea shooter and depending on their reaction time you could get two good stabs, then finish them with the gun. But I'm no spy main. SpyPersona 20 #38 Posted August 5, 2013 The Ambassador and Enforcer are still viable options for those Razorback situations, but yeah, a couple face or side stabs will do the trick. Of course you wanna be fast about it, swift death will come to you if you're uncloaked in the enemy base
BitchAssNiggerMotherFucker 0 #39 Posted August 6, 2013 I believe this patch perfectly signifies how much Gabe Newell has been wolfing down donuts, and sitting on his fucking fat ass, not fucking monitoring what fucking goes through these fucking patches, fuck you

Jabberwock 273 #41 Posted August 6, 2013 As a piece of meatloaf who enjoys playing a demoknight far more than should be healthy, we find the change to charge 'n targes simply amusing. People who complain about it obviously don't realize that more often than not, it's the pyro using blowback that got us killed in the first place. No. Simply silly complaints from a crowd of eggs. On the other hand, if one was to change any of the demo items, a welcome change to the Claidheamh Mor would've been lovely. A sword that has all of the downsides of the normal sword, yet none of the upsides, simply adding a prolonged charge that any demoknight worth their socks really doesn't find terribly important. No no no no no. The travesty here is that you walruses are so upset by something with such minor importance causes us shame, down to our very coconuts. I hope you all have your cones of shame at hand, for you should.. NAY, MUST! Put them on. This ill-begotten calamity must come to an end before any children can be informed. Also, where's my Strange Cowmangler? I want one.
Asjo 90 #42 Posted August 6, 2013 Gohthecrow, I believe that airblasting a demoknight after this latest update amounts to little more than providing the demos with free rollercoaster rides. Certainly won't kill them

Certainly won't kill them Oh ye of little trophy wives. Of course if you only airblast them, it does little besides fanning the flames of their desire. No no no. You airblast to start with. Then you dive in, wangs a twanging!
Skaruts 14 #44 Posted August 6, 2013 If they wanted to push pyros away from the typical load out, then I think they would have reduced the crit damage or something. Buffing a demoknight doesn't isn't that much of an incentive to change to the shotgun or Reserve Shooter, just annoying for the Axetinguisher/ Flare pyro when one does show up. Yup. It isn't enough incentive. I haven't changed my loudout, and will not. I also think valve didn't think this through. I mean, one demokight is ok, I can just flame him to death, and airblast every charge while at it. No problem (if scouts or spies don't interrupt). But since this patch was up there's freaking demokights everyfreakinwhere. And while pyros used to be a good counter to that, there's no counter now. It's not very hard for them to mow down an entire attacking group with med combos and all just by mass suiciding into it. I think it's ridiculous. By the way, I'm confused about the sniper thing. I've been having many snipers not taking more than 143 damage from headshots. So... valve made it easier to be a croc pussy without the full set? Am I missing something here or should I really just slap my face with my palm?
Asjo 90 #45 Posted August 6, 2013 Gohthecrow, I realize you must be under the influence, so I'll ask to you explain at a later time. You said the airblasting was the killer, but now you say that it's the "twanging". I fail to see how that means the complains about change are moot. For a demoknight to charge at thee, the counter is obviously a blowback. Even if thine flames dost not stay upon thy enemy, they still do pain the flounder. A common tactic is flaming and blowback comboing, which of course will cause the twanginging.
Nano 7,892 #48 Posted August 7, 2013 Sorry. Did I hear you right? There's no hard counter to a Demoknight? Ahahahahahahahaha hahahahahahahahahah aaah. You're funny. The best demoknight counter? Regular demo + sticky traps. Personally I love demoknight and go at least once a gameplay session, but it's quite amusing to be a stock demo watch them charge my way, then blow up in mid-charge
