brathoma 1 #1 Posted June 10, 2014 Lotus advertises, "have suggestions to make are servers better? tell us!" Well, I feel that !votekick/!voteban should be taken away from normal players, meaning if you don't donate you don't get to use this feature. I play everyday on Lotus servers for multiple hours at that, and too many times have I seen people get !votekicked for nothing. Mostly because some player is mad they are getting killed over and over again, and they want to kick the play that's owning them. That's not right. If you're mad, tough cookies. GET BETTER. Perhaps, Lotus, you will consider blocking this feature from those that do not donate. Thank you
luop90 4,400 #2 Posted June 10, 2014 Only donors can initiate votes without more than one person required. On a full server, it takes 4-5 people just to start the vote typing !votekick/!voteban. It allows democracy on the server to get rid of troll, griefers, etc.
Kerberos 3,170 #3 Posted June 10, 2014 This discussion has been spiralling for years now. The biggest issue we have is that we get real trolls and hackers logging into lotus servers and need to be kicked. How do you do that without a donor/admin being present? Your solution is circumstantial and not a very good one. For people to initiate any votekick/ban, it needs a handful of people to trigger in the first instance; In addition, it then requires something over 50% of the server depending on the vote to actually pass. Unless that person is genuinely pissing people off, it normally does not pass. Accidentally, when you're hitting key binds (1+2) you may accidentally vote for an option you didn't want to. That is an unfortunate price for the fair system in place. There will always be loopholes in any system, but right now is the best way it can be.
+JB. 4,800 #4 Posted June 10, 2014 I had a big problem with voting for something when I wanted to switch weapons so I wrote a script one day. Basicly, what it does: You vote accidently, you press ctrl, the votemenu pops up, you can vote again with keypad 1-6 //JB's revote script alias "vote1" "slot1" alias "vote2" "slot2" alias "vote3" "slot3" alias "vote4" "slot4" alias "vote5" "slot5" alias "vote6" "slot6" alias "+revote" "sm_revote; bind KP_END vote1; bind KP_DOWNARROW vote2; bind KP_PGDN vote3; bind KP_LEFTARROW vote4; bind KP_5 vote5; bind KP_RIGHTARROW vote6" alias "-revote" "bind KP_END joinblue; bind KP_DOWNARROW joinred; bind KP_PGDN loadoutbase; bind KP_LEFTARROW tooeasy; bind KP_5 lotusmenu; bind KP_RIGHTARROW loadoutswitch" bind ctrl "+revote"Feel free to use/edit it. You may have to edit the "-revote" alias, unless you want to use my keypad binds. Save it as "revote.cfg" in your tf/cfg folder and put "exec revote" in autoexec.cfg.

fever 9,884 #6 Posted June 11, 2014 Can you also use !revote to change your vote? For when the average player abuses the voting system, there are a lot more times it is put to good use but feedback is always good. Can't see anything changing though for the above reason.
