+Skaila 5,462 #1 Posted April 26, 2015 Anyone thoughts on this? http://www.forbes.com/sites/erikkain/2015/04/24/apparently-all-paid-steam-workshop-skyrim-mods-have-been-pulled/ Seems Nexus is going to stay free: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/news/12459/? The only concern I have is that modders are pulling their mods from Steam and soon everywhere else. Why not? Someone else may come in and sell it for a profit anyway. Just my opinion

Nano 7,892 #4 Posted April 26, 2015 Companies exist solely to take your money. Don't believe it? Name one position created in a company that doesn't make/save money... It doesn't exist. I don't get why people get surprised when a company does exactly what it was designed to do. If you are looking for ethical options try something where it's sole purpose isn't to increase profit. They'll reverse the change if it ends up costing them more than it makes over the long run. Otherwise it's here to stay... Unfortunately, our opinions don't really have an effect on the outcome.
Hellfire 421 #5 Posted April 26, 2015 Valve CEO ended up going on Reddit after the explosion of messages he got since Thursday. http://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/comments/33uplp/mods_and_steam/ Since some of his answers have been downvoted so much you can't see his answers to some of the questions. Here is a better link showing his answers to most questions. https://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/comments/33uplp/mods_and_steam/?sort=qa
D-Bee 3,448 #6 Posted April 26, 2015 You vote with your dollar. Some of the mods out there are truly fantastic and a lot of love and work has gone into them. People who produce quality works should be paid for their efforts.
+Skaila 5,462 #7 Posted April 27, 2015 Don't get me wrong, some mods I'd be willing to pay, but I want to pay the modder or some site like Nexus. Where it is optional, not forced. This is a hobby after all.

Infin 763 #9 Posted April 28, 2015 Valve just backtracked and cancelled. No more pay for mods on the Steam workshop (for Skyrim). http://kotaku.com/valve-cancels-paid-mods-for-skyrim-1700526130?utm_campaign=Socialflow_Kotaku_Facebook&utm_source=Kotaku_Facebook&utm_medium=Socialflow Who knows if things will just be able to go back to the way they were though? D-Bee 3,448 #13 Posted April 29, 2015 People are still modding Oblivion. I've played a few mods that I would have paid for had I known how amazing they were going to be! Also, Oblivion is still better than Skyrim.
