Novas 0 #3 Posted June 25, 2008 Most likely fake.
Mana 3,867 #4 Posted June 25, 2008 Interesting... Knowing Valve... it's only in the concept stages now. Too soon. Oh and look at the Copyright, it says something there .
SoWz 0 #5 Posted June 25, 2008 Ah. Good work Mana. I noticed that some of the background was brushed over, showing an amateur job (like next to #3) Thought it was a cool idea none the less, and the weapons are pretty well thought out.
Novas 0 #6 Posted June 25, 2008 Confirmed that it is fake, just look at the hundreds of grammar errors.
Doxt 1 #7 Posted June 25, 2008 bummer, I like the the idea of being able to "prime" the backstabs
Alucard winrar 0 #8 Posted June 25, 2008 I got very suspicious when it mentioned "For the first community map pack". But it was pretty well done even the weapons seemed like what they would do.
Melissia 7 #9 Posted June 26, 2008 Nice fake.
XiLeD 0 #10 Posted June 26, 2008 You guyz saying it's fake? I'm not saying you guyz are wrong, but it's just that i can't tell haha. The pyro page looked like this and it seemed fine.
SoWz 0 #11 Posted June 26, 2008 look at the bottom of the page: Hoax by Kaanin. I hope Valve does something similar to this hoax, seems pretty interesting.
Melissia 7 #12 Posted June 26, 2008 Personally, I thought the weapons ideas weren't all that interesting...
Camail 1 #13 Posted June 27, 2008 I kinda knew it was fake from the first weapon, the actual gun is not even close the the style TF2 would have. Its too modern, not to mention none of them are even the right kind of graphic art style (first and third are actual pictures, second looks well doctored, but sleek and too black). Its a good fake at first glance, but what really tipped me off was the icon with the spy with all the cigarettes looked horrible and I've seen it as a tag before . coda 1 #15 Posted June 27, 2008 dammit, the magnetic sapper would have been godlike. imagine just sapping them up and getting a couple of demos to run in
SoWz 0 #16 Posted June 27, 2008 Yeah I thought that was the best idea out of the three. two spies could run around, one with a magnetic and the other with a regular sapper.
Camail 1 #17 Posted June 27, 2008 If valve did that sappers wouldn't be stackable, if that could happen now, a spy rush could destroy a sentry in less than a second.
Melissia 7 #18 Posted June 27, 2008 If it were up to me... Rushin' Roulette: Greatly increased chance to critical, half damage when not criticaling. Fake sapper: Does not deactivate the building, but instead explodes when it's knocked off. The explosion will destroy a level one sentry, dispensor, or teleporter, and greatly hurt the engineer that knocked it off. Deactivates after five seconds without any explosion. Another sapper cannot be placed on while this sapper is on. Steel Spike: A successful hit will cause damage over time. Damage will continue until healed, even if it is a heavy at max health at the time of the stab. Dispensors, medics, or health kits cancel this effect. Backstabs have increased chance to critical, but do not instantly kill. All useful, but not overpowered or a complete replacement.
Camail 1 #19 Posted June 29, 2008 The fake sapper is the genius one out of the 3. I personally believe it should destroy buildings, but gie the engi holding the wrench a massive shock that kills him. With that effect teams with stand alone engineers will literally fall apart once the other engis ignore un-manned sentries. And in combination with a real sapper on a good team of engis is deadly if done perfectly.
SoWz 0 #20 Posted June 29, 2008 Yeah that fake sapper is a pretty damn good idea.
Booster37 0 #21 Posted June 29, 2008 It's good, but I personally don't like it so much. It would become really cheap and an obviously better sapper if it destroyed already doomed buildings. I just don't get why an engineer would want to take off a sapper off a sentry which going to kill him and his sentry. They would have two options: 1: Do it, and kill themselves to wait a while to respawn or...what would become really annoying... 2: Change classes to avoid all the destruction and change back to avoid death. It would sure teach a team with 9 engis a lesson, but that's about it. Unless the Spy and Engineer unlocks and achievements came out at the same time (or the Engineer comes first, which would also be chaos), then this would be a bad idea. Very creative, but it would go wrong so much.
Melissia 7 #22 Posted June 29, 2008 If they paid attention, they'd be able to recognize that it's a fake-- and it wouldn't deactivate their building, so it wouldnt' be better to an attentive engineer. It would still work because most engineers are camping noobs anyway.
Captain Falcon 0 #23 Posted July 9, 2008 I like the garrote but a better weapon would be a syringe that when you equip it when you are disguised it shows a glowing bottle. It doesn't break your disguise when used and people become poisoned which takes away a lot of hp killing in seconds unless healed.
