Source Mods Coming To Steam

As a part of our continuing efforts to support the MOD community, we will begin hosting selected MODs directly on Steam starting next week. The first five MODs to ship on steam will be Age of Chivalry, D.I.P.R.I.P., Insurgency, Synergy, and Zombie Panic. As always, owners of any Source game will be able to download and play all of these MODs for free.

Once installed, these MODs will appear in your "My Games" list and will receive automatic updates just like other games on Steam. Also, these MODs now take advantage of Steamworks, which provides stat tracking and tighter integration with the Steam community.

We're excited to see MOD developers get wider recognition for the hard work they have done, and we hope to support more MOD teams in the future. Watch for the official release next week!

I never knew about zombie panic till now , downloading at the moment.Hope its good enough to hold me over till left4dead.Big survival horror fan.

Synergy has working Metastasis support. So we have to play that.

Age of Chivalry is horrible. There's a grand total of 2 animations per weapon... maybe 4 if you use the attacks that are bound to the mousewheel (mousehweel is for weapon switching damnit). Also you can make no more than 2 and a half strikes (which all have the same repeated and 100% exact animation) as you will run out of stamina. The weapons seriously lack good animations and sounds. You press mouse 2 on the dagger it does a few strikes that look like they wouldn't do any damage to anyone but yet they do... horrible game. I hope they will think about redesigning large parts of it.

I'd post some screenshots but I already deleted it. You all can have the pleasure of playing it when it's put on Steam sometime later today.

I played the Synergy Beta awhile back, I don't really remember it though. I seem to recall not enjoying it. I also recently played Dystopia, which was rather fun.

Synergy says its just a co op mod when I looked it up for like half life but we played half life co op the other weekend without using it right?So whats the point?

Have you played the CS zombie thing?It looks like crap and is stupid.Any mod in my opinion is not going to live up to an entire game that is specifically designed to be survival/horror zombie genre or whatever.Im not saying left4dead is going to be 10/10 since its not out yet and im not fortunate enough to be one of those lab rats that tests the game on a bus or some shit but I can say it looks promising.The only other zombie mmo I can think of that was not a mod is the playstation resident evil outbreak series and even that trumps the steam mods in suspense and thrills.

So your saying that just because there is a game with zombies in it, that no other game should made with them? I'm not saying that L4D will be a good game, but there's no reason that it can't be.

Downloading insurgency now.Looks good,hopefully great gameplay too.

Edit: it had alot of problems with most of the servers due to the new version I guess.Finally got into a server and got team killed like 6 times..Guess I will give it another shot tomorrow.Age of chivalry was fun but all the US servers stay full when I tried to play.

Try it out, if you haven't played any similar games then you will not be disappointed.

I found Dark Messiah Multiplayer and Pirates Vikings Knights better than AOC. But those game weren't the best either...

I just believe AOC is the worst medieval multiplayer game that I have ever played and the level design quality + the lack of animations isn't helping it.

AoC is a good game, I like it, and I've gotten a few other people to like it. Mana, you are alone on this one.
