Just goes to show that no matter how skillful you are at spy, you still need a little luck. Awesome video by the way. What do you use to make them and put it on youtube?

I'm not really sure if I am disguising too early, but you could be right, maybe I am. I need to get someone on the other side to record a demo so I can see how it looks. AFAIK, it hasn't really hampered my play much even if it does show smoke but I wouldn't mind working on that anyway.

I think I only did that once, and that was when I stabbed the blue engineer after sapping his stuff. Guilty! I _could've_ survived that if I had immediately took cover behind the sapped sentry but I didn't... lesson learned.

I ended the clip before I finished the attempted ramp stab on the scout because I missed it and I felt it detracted from my success with the melee fight w/ the red engy. But I should've just ended after I backstabbed the engy anyway.

I used TF2's built-in demo tools to export the demo (I export to .TGA files and a .WAV file because their .AVI export seems a little broken).

Then I use VirtualDub to convert to .AVI

By default, TF2 exports the demos at 30 FPS. I exported the slow motion clips at 60 FPS and then used Audacity to slow the audio down to half its speed, then told VirtualDub that it was a 30 FPS clip, hence the neat slow motion effect with matching sound.

The time frame is pretty unforgiving if you're trying to run away. You have to be COMPLETELY cloaked before you disguise or FULLY have your disguise on before you cloak. If you try to do both earlier than that, the signature smoke cloud pops up. That's why I always cloak to run away, THEN disguise when they can't see me.

And as a tip, sentries will shoot at you when you're half-disguised and continue to shoot at you even when the disguise takes effect unless you take cover (get out of its range of vision) or fully cloak and uncloak.

Pretty good tip. I've been playing spy more and more lately. It's a lot of fun.

I'm still not very patient though. I still tend to go after the first medic or heavy I see, forgetting to look around if there is anyone else that could stop me or kill me right after I backstab.

On the downside, I now officially suck as sniper. I used to be awesome
