Yep. Stupid questions don't get answered.

How does it choose which points to read?

The setting just shows the coolest, the hottest, and the center point. Notice the coolest is always the background, and the hottest typically points at an artery. The center... well thats just the center of the image. Typically you load it on a PC software, you can select any point you are interested and it will give you min, max, and average. Its a great way to see if something is overheating etc or hunt people at night like the predator.
