A New Look At Stacking

Recommended Posts

How'd he get that gig, anyway?

I think Mana mentioned something about legacy admins in another thread. Josh used to be a Lotus member (I think), and that's why he has admin.

I'm with ya, buddy. And I understand only playing with a friend. If MagocracyforAll, Lotus recruits, or phantom/Lorax aren't on, I don't play. I tried playing Stock 1 the other day. I couldn't handle it. Neither team knew how to play properly. Kills were almost pure coincidence. The medics couldn't uber to save their life (I mean that one literally). Even when I went medic and gave someone an uber they'd just sit there for a second, realize they had an uber, charge blindly forward, lose the uber, and by that time I had to retreat.

Yeah, I generally play with Phantom or Miyari. I play with them especially because I like their playstyles, and they have a good personality to go along with it. Not saying I wouldn't play with like, other recruits or members, just that I prefer them.

blah blah blah

Here's the thing, though... we WIN because we play together a lot and know each other.

blah blah lengthy cheesy corny crap blah blah.

Obviously being with friends doesn't hurt. But what is the fundamental reason you win more frequently Eagle Eye? Is it the reason you are friends? Or is it the fact that your friends are ALREADY DECENT or that you happen to make friends who are DECENT? Therefore having more friends means more decent people on your team which gives you a higher probability of winning?

You don't need to be life long buddies with someone to be effective as partners in TF2. I can find random good medics who never played with me and we do very well after just coordinating 1-2 ubers. Take |flip| for example. We just met a few days ago and we got 11 dominations together. Now obviously two people that train together all the time will have probably a slight advantage, but its not that big especially when you are pubbin.

*sigh*... Must you piss in everybody's cheerios with nitpicky shit every moment of the day?

My point remains... you just added to it.

The reason I don't play on SourceOP anymore is because spec is disabled, and in the minute time between respawns I was able to find like, 3 or 4 cheaters, OBVIOUS ones, but I couldn't provei t for lack of demo. It was fun. Disable spectate = encourage hacking. Bad hacking. I've seen enough crap as it is, that we've managed to CATCH, much less the *rest*

Buddy system doesn't work when everyone wants to be on the same team.
This is true, but whenever people are accused of "stacking", the most common response is "I just want to play with my friends.
Maybe adding some kind of vote that would allow a forced auto-assign to the spectators. That would force the smaller team to fill up. It might not be the best solution, but I don't think eliminating the immunity is the best plan.

I think this is a great idea. However, the only problem with a vote is that they generally require a majority, and if there are 10 specs, it's going to be hard to pass. Unless, of course, specs don't get a vote.

Would it be possible to force all specs onto a random team at the end of the Setup period? That gives you around 30-60 seconds to pick a team, at which point you're pushed onto one or the other.

Personally I don't think you should change anything. The stacked teams don't always win like what was said above. It just comes down to communication and knowing your friends/players ways of playing. I've been on non stacked teams and have won because we had a mixed group of classes and there were MEDICS! It just comes down to if you can play as a team. Most non stacked teams lose because they feel defeated by the stacked teams so they get retarded and play as spies and snipers on offense and not one medic. TEAM FORTRESS 2!! :D

I do generally like playing with the people I know. It does get silly at times, but we do loose a fare amount.

I suggest a few people move over to the other team if its too uneven. Sometime its fun to own/get owned by your friends.

There still needs to be the ability to spec people and see if they are being a total douche bag.

maybe make spec donator only... there's usually at least one on, and sitting in spec is pointless if you can just change teams whenever you want

I think things have been pretty good the last week or so. No real complaints - people are switching around pretty often. Generally, specs are joining up, though I've seen a handful of people who go straight into spec upon getting autobalanced and refuse to leave until a spot opens up on the other team.

lolwut

it is yours and he would like you to take it back
