friedrice 8 #1 Posted August 15, 2009 Just got back from see District 9 and just wanted to say the movie is awesome. It is by far the best action movie of the year, which is saying a lot considering it's not primary an action movie. (looking at transformers, x-men, etc) It's just the action scenes, the way each person dies, and the one liners are so thought out you won't be sure if you should cheer when someone gets gibbed, or look away. On the topic of gibbage, this movie is violent, but in a different way. I've never seen Saw or movies like it because I simply can't handle that type of gore. District 9 is like watching someone play Quake. Ya there's blood rainbows but somehow it manages to be a sight of beauty. O, and there's a gravity gun. Only instead of throwing crates or barrels with it, he throws a pig. w00t!

Mana 3,867 #4 Posted August 15, 2009 I've never seen Saw or movies like it because I simply can't handle that type of gore. Fake gore = meh. No seriously, it's like watching teletubies, that's how scary it is. Though my friends tend to disagree... pussies. Also this TV show is awesome: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nip_Tuck
You suck and have no life 203 #5 Posted August 15, 2009 Even if those aliens were workers, they were still able to travel near light speeds. This alone should imply their tech should be able to easily destroy earth, OR significantly enhance our Earth. it doesn't make sense they would just hang out there. Graedus 9 #6 Posted August 16, 2009 This is next on my list of movies to see. Saw The Hurt Locker tonight and that was pretty intense.
You suck and have no life 203 #7 Posted August 16, 2009 My friends convinced me to see this movie and I just got back. Despite some scientific inconsistencies, it was rather good. Sure the special effects and fight scenes were good but I really like the aspects of this movie that focuses on human nature. This beginning of this movie reminded me of Obama's election. I'll give you a dollar if you can tell me why.
James Tyrgglidaar Quall 69 0 #8 Posted August 16, 2009 I'M GOING TO COMPLAIN ABOUT SCIENTIFIC INCONSISTENCIES IN A MOVIE ABOUT FUCKING ALIENS AND A PERSON TURNING INTO AN ALIEN BECAUSE I DIDN'T THINK I'D HAVE TO HAVE ANY SUSPENSION OF DISBELIEF GOING INTO A SCIENCE-FICTION MOVIE. I'M GOING TO LET THAT HAMPER MY CRITICAL SCIENTIFIC ASSESSMENT OF THIS MOVIE. ALSO THEY DID NOT PROPERLY LIFT OBJECTS OR USE PROPER GUN SAFETY. I want to hear your complaints of the scientific fallacies proposed by this movie that already assumes technologies more advanced than us?

Victoreem the V of doom 30 #11 Posted August 23, 2009 Their fuel causes humans to mutate into one of them. they (sort of) explained this but....really? also thought Mr.Crab-hand's personality got a little weird at the end. He's awesome then a dick then a coward then a fucking martyr all in about 20min movie time. alien hormones!?!?!?!?! Still a FUCKING awesome movie that I will be purchasing (side note) my friend and his family loved the transformers movies. should I murder them? friedrice 8 #12 Posted August 23, 2009 I like how people say they didn't like a movie because such and such is impossible. They said Bees shouldn't be able to fly due to the size of their body compared to the size and shape of their wings. But somehow they fly. Everyone thinks they are a scientist just because they can read Wikipedia.
Dashuu 11 #13 Posted August 24, 2009 I like how people say they didn't like a movie because such and such is impossible. They said Bees shouldn't be able to fly due to the size of their body compared to the size and shape of their wings. But somehow they fly. Everyone thinks they are a scientist just because they can read Wikipedia. I think they figured that bee flight thing out in the 1940s or 50s. I'm not sure what it was though, something about how they bounced in the air. I'm sure wikipedia has the answer though. I liked the movie's grasp on perspective. Not only do I think it captured a near genuine human reaction to the scenario, I also enjoyed the narrative perspective changes throughout the movie. The mockumentary, news clips, testimonials, and classic perspective were all pulled off very well and blended together seamlessly.

You suck and have no life 203 #15 Posted August 24, 2009 genuine human reaction to aliens: racism. Race implies the same species dumbshit. The proper word is xenophobia.
ScarletRose 1 #16 Posted August 24, 2009 Well actually, Yousuck. I recently watched something on the U.N. redefining Race as in the Human Race. G4 covered it because it had something to do with the cast of Battlestar Galactica(sp?). And the genuine human reaction to anything unknown and different: Fear. And so the path to the dark side ensues. -- And is this movie worth seeing in the theater? Because "The Mist" also showed human nature at it's best, or I should say worst, but the movie itself wasn't very entertaining unless the psychological stuff appealed to you personally.
