Complaint About An Incident Ingame

okay i have a complaint about abuse with the votekick plugin. there was someone in the server named Clever Girl which i'm sure must be well known cuz she's probably a donater or something. i play on your server with my friends all the time during the late hours and i'm never rude never bother anyone and never complain about people. but tonight she votekicks me and others because she says we had 300+ ping? i never get 300+ ping on this server. i'm not stupid enough to play on a server where i would ping so high. and i know the plugin is so that cheaters/hackers/people being irritating turds can get kicked off w/o an admin around. but c'mon i wasn't doing anything except playing the game like it's supposed to be played. here's the scenario. i was running thru sewers in 2fort and ran into Clever Girl. i was a scout and she was a heavy. i mowed her down with a few rounds of FAN shots and a lot of jumping around. i'm a damn scout for fucks sakes of course i'm gonna look like i'm skipping across your screen at point blank range when i'm running circles around you and jumping over your head. just because of this incident i don't think me and my friends will be playing on your server anymore and the way she was votekicking others for idiotic reasons you'll probably lose a lot of players and reputation the same way as well.

another thing to point out. if you start thinking well the vote went thru for a reason, 80% of the votes aren't real anyway. when a vote is thrown up in midplay everyone spams the fastest button which is usually 1 to get it out of the way so it doesn't screw them up during gun fights.

everyone can flame all they want i'm posting this so it can be seen and so it's known but i won't be coming back to check replys. it's your server and you can decide it's fate.

"Clever girl" is L | Miyari's alternate nickname, apparently. Other than that, I wasn't there, so I can't really determine whether or not that constitutes abuse. I will say that you can check your actual ping by typing "net_graph 1" into the console. That'll give you your instantaneous ping, not the average that the scoreboard displays.

Since when? I would say more than not most people hit 2 as they don't know why there is a votekick/ban going.

No idea what you did but any ping above a 150 annoys me. Wall sniper ftw?!?! Warping scout!?!

You stunned me (iirc?) and FAN'd me to death before I could spin my gun. You even nabbed the health from in front of me, good kill. But on my screen you were teleporting around everywhere. I checked your ping (like I said, I always do early in the morning because we get a lot of overseas players and a lot of laggers) and at that time you were over 300 ping. Whether you want to agree with me or not, I don't give a shit. It wasn't the first time you had lagged for me, either. And no, it's not my computer. Do I think you were doing it on purpose? No, not at all. Whatever happened, I noticed you were teleporting, I checked your ping, and acted on it.

I put up a votekick, standard protocol, and it passed. I'm going to give you a little bit of info based on having played on these servers probably a fuck ton more than you - votekicks RARELY pass. Not even when we want them to. It most certainly did not pass because people "everyone spams the fastest button." You rejoined and your ping was fine, and you weren't lagging anymore. You then proceeded to spend the next half-hour harassing me via in-game chat, calling me a "bitch" at one point because you were apparently so enraged that the votekick passed, as though other people obviously didn't agree with me. I calmly explained to you what I saw, and you tried to pass it off as my raging on you for killing me. If I tried to votekick everyone who ever killed me I'd have had my donator priveleges taken away a long time ago, sorry - you aren't that good. Contrary to popular belief it actually takes a lot to make me significantly rage these days, because I could give a flying fuck less about most shit in TF2. I do, however, care when a player has an unfair advantage over others due to lag/ping/hacks/anything other than skill. It was a skilled kill, yeah - I'm not going to say that I died because you were lagging, I died because I was too slow. But you were lagging. That's how I saw it, and that's how I acted on it. Apparently enough people agreed with me for the votekick to pass. I never once said it was intentional or you were doing anything on purpose, and if you regularly have good ping - that's fine. You're making a mountain out of a molehill here - it was situational, it was acted upon, and it passed, and here you are insulting me yet again. I didn't even begin to think that it would have justified a forum post until one of my friends told me about this thread in-game.

Apparently you felt so strongly on it that after arguing with me in-game for a half-hour you came on here and made a post about it. It a was a fucking votekick, you came back barely 3 minutes later and your ping was fine, no problems, end of story. Get the fuck over it.

But just in case you are indeed capable of something slightly resembling intelligent thought:

Miyari is one of the best players, in terms of skill, in the clan. If you want to claim you're as good as her, or better, then my default reaction is to giggle, point, laugh, shake my head, and then ask for proof. Anyone can make a ludicrous claim on the internet, at any time anywhere. Some random dude I haven't heard of says something like that? VERY little chance I will believe them at all. Not to say you couldn't have fairly killed her, but she is a veteran player, not some random noob on the net (which at the moment seems to actually be you, not her). Getting killed once isn't going to piss her off.

What happens to me a lot of times, however, is I'm about to switch weapons, and then instantly after a vote for something is initiated I end up hitting something I didn't want to, as I was trying to switch weapons. I try to be careful about that, but it happens.

Heh. Quick switch is bound to mouse4. The only problems thus far with the scroll wheel is that with Jarate when you throw it and try to switch weapons, it catches on Jarate. I've adapted, but it's very annoying.

My mouse4 is bound to "change to last disguise" for spy. Very convenient given how much I play that class.

In which case I hit 4 then the number for the class. I have them memorized, it's not hard. Like 4 3 for pyro, 4 8 for sniper, etc. But I've found that people spycheck you equally regardless of what class you disguise as, so I tend to go for pyro, medic, sniper, demoman or engineer, as they are the ones with a very similar speed to spy (soldier and heavy slow you down, while scout-spies are blatantly obvious). I'll change my disguise every few minutes, sure, but I like to spend as little time visible as possible unless I'm backstabbing or sapping.
