We've all been in a game expecting the next 15 minutes to be fun-filled and exciting; then you hit tab only to find that you joined the losing team, and oh man are they losing.

It happens far too often in the lotus servers which is why I've been driven to create this topic.

I was in a game earlier today with all the usual suspects: the guys you know are good at what they do. The sad part was they were all lined up nicely on the same team, dominating everyone.

Oh wait, that fails 90% of the time. This thread is NOT aimed at knocking the server mods in any way.

Now this shouldn't be against the rules, although definitely frowned upon; however as lotus recruits began to join the server I noticed that they ALL joined the dominant team with the best players. That's a little ridiculous.

Trying to make an example, I purposely joined the losing team in every round on every map, but no one followed suit. Even after I asked that the other team unstack a little they scoffed at me.

At quite a few points during the course of the game the dominant team (including several lotus recruits) outnumbered the losing team by up to five players. Auto-balance works when a player dies: he gets switch to the opposing team. This really on balances the number of players per team, when it should be skill-based. The dominant players rarely die, thus they are never auto-balanced.

We have this thread like, every other week. Yes, we know this is a problem. And y'know what? It's not going to get any better now that stats are kinda back, or ever. You obviously haven't seen the games where we've spawncamped the other team on CTF_Well for 40 minutes. That wasn't that bad.

I only play in US Stocks // Payload stocks servers. Sometimes you'll find me in arena server though.

lol. I've been playing on this server for a year and a half, longer actually, since I started playing before the Goldrush/Medic update. Teams usually are fine if the specs join. Sometimes we'll kick the specs, but if the server's not full they just immediately rejoin. The thing with the "stacked" team is that we just stop giving a fuck after a while and try crazy things like having half the team to heavy and taunt kill instead of use their minigun. Or we just snipe flares. Something like that. Unfortunately, a lot of people have become donators to be on the "stacked" team, so a bit of the "we don't give a fuck, let's just have a good time" attitude has diminished a bit.

There were so many baddies playing on my team last night that no one even wanted to go medic -.-

It's kind of funny how often this comes up. I make an effort to join the 'losing' team too, and I'm a recruit. Though, I'm not really doing it in some hopeless attempt to lead by example. I just know that I'm going to get auto-balanced to the 'losing' team eventually anyway, so I save myself the trouble. My advice, play on stocks 3, or any of the other lotus maps. This problem really only occurs on stocks 1 and 2 (with any kind of regularity). I almost never see any lotus members or recruits in the arena server, for example. You could also give up on the team and just play for stats! I think that's what most of the people end up doing when they feel 'stacked' against, and it appears to work for them.

What I do is if I can't joined stacked team to play with people I know I join the losing team and be a medic. This is because most people think "We're losing we need more firepower!" And nobody is a medic so i hoard a lot of points off that. Or I might try to help me team win OR decide I'm super lazy and go sniper or spy and try to hoard points that way. I end up failing pretty bad with that last one but sometimes I get a good streak going.

tl:dr it's all been said before on a semi-weekly basis. As was already stated there were two factors contributing to the terribleness of the team last night. Firstly, we had 3 medics and several heavies/demos. Secondly, no one on the other team had any idea what to do with an uber when they got one.

Also, I call shenanigans on phantom having a higher score than me even though I had a pocket kritzkreig.

So people shouldn't be allowed to play with their friends? I'm sorry Phantom, Kenny, Lorax, etc are all better than average players and we stomp teams. Deal with it or leave the server. Scrambles never win and it's not cause everyone on the stack team votes no watch the % next time. I guess even the horrible players don't care what team they are on cause either way they are horrible players.

I'll try not to be a dick here but just because I am a Lotus Recuit does not mean I should join the team I don't want to be on. I fork over my hard earned money to Mana so I can play with the people I like to play with. Even if we lose it's people I like to play with, not the winning team.

Skill wise: The major difference between the two teams; stacked and non-stacked. Is that the stacked team communicates also we know who does what best, thus we work like a well oiled machine. However there have been times where the stacked team has been beaten because the non-stacked team got it's shit together, and worked well. It's not that fricking hard.

There's a lot of friends who got to know each other there, learned each other's strategies, learned how to deal with the e-peen boasting, and how to talk awesome trash about the poor newbs crushed in the wake of their devastating organization. The point is, win or lose, easy or difficult, I think they just like to play with each other. Why stand in the way of that?

On Topic - My solution to this problem (me personally): Always join the losing team, and dominate the highest player on the other team. Though I probably can't do that anymore as I totally forgot how to play anything but Pyro. Pyro Dodgeball is all I play lately.
