Ed Del Castillo

A Very Special Thanks

Yeah if a person lags then let him lag, not everyone. Also if possible let the person lag but let his soldiers carry out the task at hand so that you wouldnt be fighting zombies that dotn move.

yep yep thats my point right there true men thats how the server should be the only problem is that when you fight in team he could lagg and we can loose :(

I've probably waited too long to reply, but as some of you have deduced, I've been really busy with the other stuff we're working on.

Just want to comment on a few things:

1. Yes, I am indeed Ed Del Castillo, thanks Lord Zymeth (heh, can't it even type it without chuckling) for vouching for me.

2. On BR2... please don't expect it soon. :( As much as Mike, I and a few others want to make the game, good games these days cost upwards of 5 milion dollars (US) to make (that is, of course, unless we get an army of volunteer programmers, artists and level designers somewhere). Rest assured however, that our love for that universe and its characters will never die and one day the successor to BR will emerge. There's just too much personal blood, sweat and tears in that world for me to let it go, especially now that we own it again.

Lastly, I've read every post on this thread, and I feel like I'm the real winner here. I wrote one note that lifted your spirits, and I go back 3 pages that lifted mine. You all really have no idea how much that means to me. You all are great.

In the coming days, you will hear about very different games coming out of Liquid. Keep the Faith. Liquid is growing and that means trying new things, developing new technologies and entering new arenas. Just remember that under all that burns the fire to build the next great Battle Realms.

Yes I know. They have their own money and stuff. So they will figure it out.

On the donating note, think on it as this way. If a lot of people donate a small amount of money, it will equal a lot of money in the long run.

I just found this forum today. Ed's post really cheered me up. To think that Battle Realm will have a sequel in the future... truely amazing.

BR is the most creative RTS game that I ever played. And to this date, I haven't really found any other RTS game that has such a revolutionary level of innovation as presented in BR. Many big titles, like Age of Empires 1, 2, and 3, had been following conventional RTS formulas since the dawn of time, and still continue on doing so.

The first thing that awe-strucked me in BR was the unique unit training system. To train a soldier from a farmer is really interesting. And it makes sense. I had always wondered how soldiers appeared out of nowhere when you purchase one in a conventional RTS.

Next comes the terrain. I liked how the units had height advantage. I liked how the birds would alarm you of an invasion. I like how a unit would have shorter viewing range in a forest. These are the things that I never find in big games like Warcraft 3, or Red Alert 2.

Now to the battle system! The idea that I liked best in BR is the implementation of stamina for a unit. In most RTS games that I encountered, a severely injured unit would still fight as effectively as an uninjured one- a scenario that I find laughable. Aside from that, a range unit in BR would be forced to switch to melee mode when attacked close up. This is another remarkable innovation.

And, last but not least, the originality of the characters. I especially like the background for the lotus clan. Someday I really hope there will be a campaign for us to play as a character from this clan- a clan that is so originally designed.

I look forward to BR2.

You forgot that water and rain slows the units down and its harder to burn something when its rainin and the rocks you can roll and you cen evolve everything in your strategy, you can use a wood as hidin place or build up some towers and then destroy the trees so you attack surprisingly or kill even horses and burn ricefields down and make really good traps (mines/spikes/woods for ambushes) and every single unit got a passive ability..i like that most that makes the units more lively, they influence the battle through things that seem to be just a add to make the game more beautiful (e.g. Kabuki)

This game is something really special and I just hope BR 2 will be out before I'm an adult...or too old and too busy for playing computer games

..and I hope Liquid got some really good new ineventions for the game!

This is a moment in history. Everyone rejoice!

But to be serious, where would we give the donations? Battle realms 2 donation fund? I suppose we could just send money thorugh the mail, but thats kinda insercure isn't it?

Just a thought for people that want to donate... Maybe we could get up to 5million$?

Haha, I am very happy after reading this. I reckon it should be stickied.

Mr Castillo said something about volunteer workers, hey if anyone is bored, why not helping him :D

I'd like to help too, but I don't think that html and Java Script knowledge is really needed...

Website/Graphics design I could help. Although that is not what they would need. They would need software coders who know what their doing. Besides I have alot of stuff to do; school, other websites and then some other stuff :(.

I'm sure Ed doesn't like me (if he remembers me), but I must say I've done my part in helping them financially by purchasing (yes, legally *purchasing*) every Liquid product.

Although I can't get my Dragonshard to work properly.

I just reinstalled BR, and the depth of the world that exists within it is just crying for a sequel (not a prequel, WotW was enough of that (but don't get me wrong, it was good)). Such a detailed and well-thought-out world, rich in history and ambience.

I, too, look forward to the day of BR2.

Maybe a hybrid RPG/RTS (moreso than Dragonshard), where you can play an RPG campaign, and how well you do affects your stats on the RTS game... Not switching back and forth like Dragonshard, but sorta like two games in one... Course this is just rambling, but it might be interesting.

I hope they make sure it runs properly under wine. Unlike Starcraft Battle Realms doesn't see my network connections.

Battle Realms was the only Liquid game that realy convinced me. I kinda miss Pete, though.

Dragonshard has great graphics, but I personally think the gameplay sucks. Its a rip-off from warcraft and it just doesn't cut it.

Humm I disagree, although I played the demo only. the graphics are good but I don't think its a rip off from Wc3, the gameplay is totally different, although it depends on the hero (as well as in wc3) the hero himself is very different and its usage from wc3 (well..i played the demo only) humm theres also only one ressource which you can only get through fighting, in wc3 you gotta gather the mines (which sucks imo) and get wood...
