Dragonsoul 3 #1 Posted June 30, 2007 Yes, I just started to play BR again, and i can't find the Patrol button or hotkey in original and WotW. Is there even one? If there IS one, can someone help me use 'patrol'? THanks!
IndominusRex 13 #2 Posted June 30, 2007 Probably I could, but I have no idea what is Patrol.
Dragonsoul 3 #3 Posted June 30, 2007 set your units to move back and forth between 2 waypoints...
cptheslayer 2 #4 Posted June 30, 2007 you have probably seen the ai do that, but unfortunatly for us, there is no patrol command key. But you can use shift key to command your units to patrol or to move back and forth or in whatever manner you want to them to move. Shift + clcik. Do not let go of the shift key. IndominusRex 13 #5 Posted June 30, 2007 Oh now I got what you mean by patrol... I think Patrol is not so useful in BR?
Speedy 11 #6 Posted June 30, 2007 You can do it with the alt + shift combination as cp said, but there's reason to use it in BR that I can think of.. I did do it once, it's quite time consuming to get units to do it for very long.
Mana 3,867 #7 Posted July 1, 2007 You can assing units into squads and them make them guard a certain area? Say assing 2 groups of 4 to guard 2 different places? To make a group you select some units and click CTRL+1 (1 through 9) and then when you click 1 or whatever number you used you will instatly get all the units from that group selected. Maybe this will help?
Dragonsoul 3 #8 Posted July 1, 2007 ty for the info... ill test this out. EDIT: wow horrible. No Patrol..... the alt + shift thingy is so ineffective...
IndominusRex 13 #9 Posted July 1, 2007 I guess it's not that horrible as you think. This is because I don't think Patrol would be useful in this game. Unlike Starcraft, it has detector units which you could use Patrol to it to detects invisible units. By the way, I post this reply for almost 10 minutes using a PSP system. cptheslayer 2 #10 Posted July 1, 2007 patroling is sometimes useful. lets just say you can set your one unit to patrol a certain location in the map since you don want to use more than one unit. This one unit will walk back and forth and will let you see your enemy when your enemy is in sight. of course, usually this one unit will be killed, but it is nothting in the return of knowing what your enemy has and what your enemy is plaaning to do. Speedy 11 #11 Posted July 1, 2007 I tend to use peasant huts as reconnaissance instead of that.
Dragonsoul 3 #12 Posted July 1, 2007 OKay so is there an attack-move button then?
Speedy 11 #13 Posted July 1, 2007 What do you mean?
Dragonsoul 3 #14 Posted July 1, 2007 *sigh* You allow your units to Attack-move when you click this one button or hotkey-ing them to walk to an area, and on the way they'll automatically attack anything on the way.
Speedy 11 #15 Posted July 2, 2007 They do anyway. The trick is getting them NOT to attack anything on the way. (Secret hehe)
Dragonsoul 3 #16 Posted July 2, 2007 15. Is there a way to attack move? Right-clicking seems very ambiguous. Sometimes they automatically attack-move or force move.Answer: Anytime a unit is not engaged in combat or within detectable range of an enemy, and you move him by right-clicking, you are using an "attack-move." This means that if the warrior comes within range of an enemy on his way to his destination, he will attack. If your warrior is already engaged in combat OR if an enemy is within detectable range and you command your unit to move by right-clicking, it will be a "force-move." This means the warrior will ignore any enemies within his range and move to the desired location. FOUND IT!!! lol in the gamefaq of http://battlerealms.strategyplanet.gamespy...o-gameqa.php#15.
