hey so we put the old plr file back and then add the engine.dll?? or can we keep the new plr file?

Well if the new plr file was crashing the server... it would be logical to use the one that did not crash. In this case the old one.

Hmm, I applied both of those things and now when people connect they get the error reason "Server uses different class tables"

I'm positive I hvae it properly updated.

This can mean one of 3 things:

1) The Valve HLDSupdater failed me for what must be the hundredth time now.

2) You fail at updating your server yourself, might relate to point #1.

3) I did it wrong, relates to point #1 yet again.

Anyone else having problems?

Ugh, it crashed again for me :(

Heh... try again? Care to elaborate? Crash logs?

Run the server with -dev -condebug -debug and paste the console log at the time of crash here.

The problem is not engine.dll it is with plr.

I used the original engine.dll, with old plr on a stock server and it crashed. Took plr off and it worked.

So it still doesn't work for you? If that the case there's yet another dll file one can edit...

my server is working good with old plr file and new engine.dll

My test server is working fine as well.

People who are having crashing problems even with the old plr file need to post a debug log here.

I hope DEP was not the original problem for everyone else... Well actually that be the easy fix, but still, I was about to go eat when I saw this thread :(.

thanks for taking your time and helping us out. Due to having a bf2 server i cant have remote access to my dedicated server to set DEP. I dunno if dep was the problem or not.

Lord Zymeth, you are truely awesome.

I didn't want to try the new patch cuase of the problems I was seeign others were having, but once I saw you were goign to release your engine update, I gave it a shot. It worked out anyways. But thats for all yoru hard work.

How did you guys go about disabling DEP? I went into the System advanced area, enabled DEP adn then added both SRCDS instances as exceptions. I'm still getting crashes unfortunately though.

I've tried everything. DEP enabled with SRCDS exception using plr2.0, and plr1.0 + engine dll. Tried it with DEP off as well. Nohting is working for me :(

Well, in the correct order...did you shut down your server, and then move the files over? Use the old plr plugin, and the new engine.dll file.

also, make sure that you update via HLDSUpdateTool FIRST before you move the files.

I think i fixed the problem. The new playerlimit does work, but you have to use the original engine.dll file.

HLDSUpdateTool doesn't overwrite the engine.dll file, so you need to keep the original file, and then leave it be....then of course add the plr file, and the other .vdf file to the appropriate spot.

No disconnects or crashes or anything.

But, this was a stock setup, and I had not added any mods like Mani or anything...

Hopefully this helps anyone who is having trouble.

If you need the engine.dll file, just ask for it.

Well, I'm still having a problem, but looking that the DS forums on the Steam site says alot of other people are having problems.

Which makes sence cause it's happeing to my Linux server too and that one I dind't player hack.
