Ethyl Methyl Phail 1 #1 Posted June 15, 2012 June 14th, 2012, 24/7 Dustbowl Texas Server, around 9pm Pacific time. Player was being disruptive by buidling teleporters that would only teleport you a few feet from the entrace and on another occasion from the frontline back to spawn. http://www.mediafire.com/?17cxa87cs6t53t1 STEAM_0:1:48271591
pockets 1,841 #2 Posted June 15, 2012 I haven't watched the demo, but if he's just playing like an ass I suggest votekicking him. Building teleporters in stupid places doesn't really warrant a ban.
Coke 1 #3 Posted June 15, 2012 I think I was there when this was going on. Eventually he got votebanned which is how I think this should be handled. A voteban or a votekick. I was on the other team so I can't say much about how it was, but I've had stuff like this on mine and it never ruined the game for me.
Willerms 1,794 #4 Posted June 15, 2012 As pockets mentioned, this isn't really ban worthy. I often build teleporters that lead back to spawn so I can easily access the supply cabinet and as far as teleporters that go a few feet from spawn, that doesn't hinder gameplay in the least. But this isn't up to me
Ethyl Methyl Phail 1 #5 Posted June 16, 2012 I wouldn't expect a permanent ban as an outcome as that does seem excessive, but the least I'm trying to do is document such behavior should any future 'questionable' activity arise by mentioned player. I can see how a 'reverse' teleporter setup may be advantageous for returning to spawn for metal, but as you can see in the demo he had the Eureka Effect equiped; so, why do both? As far as building teleporters that only transport minimal distances, perhaps there is question of when does it become obvious player griefing (e.g. entrance and exit built side by side at spawn for the entire game period) and when it is actually helping the team (to the front line? half way point? a safe area?). Our side was definitely on the last corner before reaching the final point and his teleporter was purposely built far away from there. Like I said, just a case to point out. Maybe that 30 minute voteban was sufficient to correct him of his actions.
DutchKev 425 #6 Posted June 16, 2012 if you know the tp only goes 3 fet from spawn - why continuously use it? surely thats a derp on your behalf?
Possum 10,776 #7 Posted June 16, 2012 if you know the tp only goes 3 fet from spawn - why continuously use it? surely thats a derp on your behalf? True, but it is also incredibly annoying. Plus is each player uses the tele once before finding out its useless, how much time has that wasted in total?

Ethyl Methyl Phail 1 #9 Posted June 16, 2012 There are arrows pointing to where the tele goes... While that is true, and you can get a pretty good idea where it the exit is, it can still be deceiving. Since the arrow points to the exit, it still doesn't tell you how far it will take you. That means it would have at least been pointing in the general direction of the frontline. If you look at the diagram (red X nearest spawn is entrance and the subsequent one is the exit; connect both points and you make a line, which is yellow). http://i50.tinypic.com/6h5i8g.png I don't mean to sound like you don't have a point, I'm just trying to give an opposing view that could just as much explain someone's inability to spot such a thing.
