i use xvi32, it's a free hex editor.

xvimain.gif

you can download here:

http://www.chmaas.handshake.de/delphi/free...xvi32/xvi32.htm

actually, i open the the battle realms.dat in notepad, study the structure of it then edit it with xvi32. it's really complicated on first try, but it's easy when you find the right offsets. be careful when modifying it because, it will give an error or out of memory bug when you modify it with wrong ascii codes.

here's a sample, you can do such things like in this demo:

this hack is i trained a peasant in the peasant house(i know it's impossible) then grayback will comes out. :P

:D it is called hexadecimal string(5aee2...) the value on the left side is what we called offsets(00125d...). well you really need some basic assembly coding to understand it. it means that you are decoding the encoded data which is inside the battle realms.dat. it is really hard to figure it out at first. because you only visualize some of the data, which are represented on the right panel(ascii codes).

Yes, coding is difficult ^^

When I was 7, I had a little game in 2D called "Gusano"

I was modifying it ! At 7 ! xD

I will help you kevlahnota. I PM you a little idea ;)

1 last question about that program thing, on the right u got some words and a lot of squares but the words say exacly the same as when you open the .dat file in notepad and the squares are te spaces  so why do u need that program if editing the .dat file in notepad is better to understand or is that a realy stupid question?

Not a stupid question ;)

I tested that myself, and then I saved the Battle Realms.dat with Notepad... The game can't read it :o

So, we must use a Hexadecimal editor
