No longer a Sexy King:^) 5,592 #854 Posted April 8, 2014 Sword Art Online is better than Log Horizon, that's a fact. My question is tho... Is Accel World better than Sword Art Online? Just need a yes or no. At least the soundtrack seems dope.
+Dr. Obvious 14,606 #855 Posted April 8, 2014 Accel World did have a meh ending, at least for me, so SAO is better in my book. (and yes, better than Log Horizon, although i enjoyed that show, too)

At least the soundtrack seems dope. I put Accel World and SAO next to each other in terms of overall quality 6/10, both have their pros and cons. Still prefer SAO over AW though... Personally this is how I see it: Story - SAO > AW Characters - SAO < AW Sound - SAO < AW Art/ Animation - SAO > AW

Emma 1,798 #862 Posted April 15, 2014 Nonono! I love the fairies and well, it was pretty damn interesting. The only part I didn't like was when they showed Kirito's cousin loving him... That was a little weird, but other than that, the story was kinda good!
No longer a Sexy King:^) 5,592 #863 Posted April 15, 2014 That villain guy.... what the fuck was that character? I think he just wanted to rape Asuna. Kirito keeps his powers because the server is the same and that little bitch somehow manages to transfer his avatar or w/e, lots of bullshit but i guess i was fine with that, till the moment he somehow can hack the game, because he wasn't overpowered enough. Asuna? Who? Then that incestuous love, but she wasn't actually her sister, lolwhat is this shit. Oh right, Kirito keeps attracting all bitches, because all those years he spent inside his house playing videogames, helped developing his charisma and physical/social attributes to be that of a stud. I mean, the 1st half of SAO wasn't that good as well, but when compared to the 2nd half, it was pretty good. Bunny could probably explain it with better words, but i think i managed to show my point.
AIex 1,292 #864 Posted April 15, 2014 (edited) Oh right, Pride keeps attracting all bitches, because all those years he spent inside his house playing videogames, helped developing his charisma and physical/social attributes to be that of a stud. ftfy On a serious note the next season might be interesting. My brother read the light novel/s manga's/ what ever the fuck it is. Apparently it gets interesting for this next season so i'll give it a few episodes. However this is my quick roundup of why it's kinda meh (PERSONAL OPINION, I'M NOT CALLING ANYONE STUPID FOR LIKING SOMETHING I DON'T. BUT LIVING IN A SUBJECTIVE WORLD MAKES NOTHING GO AROUND) The first half was decent (might be because of it's setting and decent animation) but once you take out the threat of a scenario (irl death) and you're forced to feel worried for something that is arguably fan service i couldn't bring myself to care. The characters don't really evolve in terms of personality and it starts to go into awkward waters when "bro i wanna bang but it's k cus you aren't really my bro". And after the first half it did seem like they were trying to pander to a very niche market, and it felt like the entire second half should of been a ova or something However if i remember correctly (from my brother) the fairy part of the anime was based off of a side story between the the first main story (the first half of the anime) and the second story (pew pew story) So that could be why it feels shoe-horned in tl:dr second half should of been an ova Also we guys don't like the second half mostly because fairies aren't cool. No longer a Sexy King:^) 5,592 #865 Posted April 15, 2014 Lolwhat, the fairies aren't even a problem, You did speak of a point that i forgot, when the threat of death is removed (2nd half), the show kinda lacks that "excitment" it had at first. But then again, let's rewind a little bit.... "Final boss battle", Asuna is supposed to die, and so is Kirito.... and, they didn't..... sooooo..... yeah, this is when this anime started to lack internal logic.
ultr@BUNNY 8,565 #866 Posted April 15, 2014 I mean, the 1st half of SAO wasn't that good as well, but when compared to the 2nd half, it was pretty good. Bunny could probably explain it with better words, but i think i managed to show my point. I doubt I can add much, you pretty much summed it up. In the 1st half of SAO, we meet Asuna, a great leader and strong fighter. In ALfheim Online, she is nothing more than damsel in distress and spends the entire arc locked in a cage moping. The one time she tries to escape, she proves herself totally helpless in a fight. It is sad to see such a strong female character reduced to nothing but the quest item the male lead is hunting for. Then we have one of the most shitty incestuous romantic triangle ever, a lot of the ALfheim Online arc is spent dealing with Kiroto's adopted sister, Sugu, falling in love with him both in and out of ALfheim Online (though having no idea that the in-game him is her brother, even though is totally obvious). The problem with this is that it is presented as a love triangle between Kirito, Sugu, and Asuna when that is clearly not the case. Kirito's devotion to Asuna in the SAO arc was such that even implying he might consider giving up on her for another woman, especially while she is in mortal danger, is ludicrous, to say the least. Moreover, in anime in general, when the "not-really-his-sister-I-promise" character is involved in a love triangle, she never wins. Simply put, when the outcome of a love triangle is obvious from the start, it adds no tension to the story and is instead just filler.
No longer a Sexy King:^) 5,592 #867 Posted April 15, 2014 I really wanna highlight that bit you said Bunny, how come Sugu couldn't figure out that it was "her brother" in game, even tho he looked and sounded the same, bitch be dumb.
Emma 1,798 #868 Posted April 16, 2014 I quite liked how Asuna was kind of useless in the second half though, it was pretty interesting and it was a different game, she may have been strong in SAO but the change of power in ALfhein Online was fascinating. Though I do agree with you when you say the tension is gone in ALfhein because you're no longer trapped and stuff but really it was still fun to watch and unlike SAO it wasn't as confusing because the plot was easier to follow along and not as many parts were skipped as there were in the first arc
No longer a Sexy King:^) 5,592 #869 Posted April 16, 2014 If they had removed Alfhein completely and given us a better well paced 1st half i'm pretty sure this anime would've been much better in my book. The premise was there, the potential it had..... kinda wasted, but don't get me wrong, i never for a single minute felt bored while watching Sword Art Online. They could also change the name of the second season, since the swords are pretty much gone lol, there's still lightsabers tho, i guess.
Emma 1,798 #870 Posted April 16, 2014 Mm indeed, plus I can't really pronounce ALfhein properly... What's the 3rd arc? I heard it's something like Gun Gale Can't wait, this better be good.

The 3rd arc is called Phantom Bullet, it's a gun based MMO, unlike the 1st and 2nd arc that were survival and rescue stories, this one will be more of a murder mystery, I expect a better story on this one, when it comes to characters I'm not sure yet...I heard that Sinon (the new main character) it's quite interesting.
