Trade Offers

Recommended Posts

Here comes the new arse rape of the trading in Steam.

http://store.steampowered.com/news/11395/

So now you can trade offline, when you want. I'm not sure how, but I can only get a bad feeling that it will not take very long before users find a way to rip off others. (At the same time, it looks like something similar to TF2 Trade Post.)

I heard it's now for friends only yet. Luckily, otherwise we may get spammed with trade offers

Wait for them to make it Public, instead of Friends Only.

Begin thy rage.

If you have some nice items and don't want to trade them you can do as Ljubica says and not participate. I don't see how this is a negative feature, it just won't be for everyone. I imagine some people will trade as they get an offer that they weren't expecting and see it as too good to turn down. At the end of the day you participate and may get a trade offer that makes you happy, or you turn it off....a non issue in my book. I'll be definitely hiding my inventory though.

YES! Always double check trades.

Also, this reddit post goes into more detail.

Reddit's for idiots. :|

I told you it wouldn't be long before they turned this into another way to scam people.

I think this is appropriate for what's going to continue happening, and happening.

Some guy contacted me about the trade. I had no idea what he was talking about until I looked.

Oh look ... a trade -.-

How is this necessary anyway? I had NO trouble with just adding someone and saying "hey, I offer you bla bla for your bla bla"

Valve is turning the wrong way again (Lolol Valve jokes because they can turn in 2 ways Lolol)

Seriously though, I want an option to disable this and block all offers. I need to keep my backpack public so I can use tf2outpost for further trading.

And I feel no urge to use this scammy and probably broken trading system that they FORCE on me.

Either way you are screwed if you are on tf2outpost. They literally force me to use both because 1 doesn't work without the other.

If you are getting annoying offers, you might want to consider doing a purge of your friend's list.

Since it's not public, *not yet* it's always going to be some idiot who trades items like a druggie trades for crack.

SR's a great tool to look through your friend's list, as a supplement to when looking at your Friends List in general on Steam. I only keep peeps that I actually play with, are dependable, have built strong business relationships with or stuffs people like to do...in ah...the bed? XD http://steamrep.com/

I wonder if Valve will put in a limit, where trades for nothing will be disabled. It still won't make a difference.

Fairly sure we're both going to hell. For quite a lot of reasons.

I am very 50/50 on this one.

It seems like a good idea because I often add people from around the world for the sake of trading via: Outpost and Backpack.tf.

My online schedule is far different from theirs, especially with my job.

It seems awful because everyone with their backpack set to public will be flooded with Friend Invites.

This is however one of the double edged issues. The only way to counteract this is to block random friend requests, which is already a practice in itself.

I'm gonna say I'm %75 for this and %25 against.

So...... I guess....... Hooray for Valve?

You actually can trade from mobile with this.

I'm actually wondering why I have yet to install the Steam Mobile Application. I have a smart phone but it never occured to me.

No, the mobile app doesn't allow for trading or even has a trade offers section. But you can use the steam community website which is pretty nifty. Only thing that bothers me is that you have to ask the other person to send the trade offer because there's no way for you to add stuff to the trade from mobile, an some people have no idea what trade offers are or that they exist.

Will the application lag? Like Steam does recently, where it takes about 3-5 minutes 'verifying' an installation that was never touched with?

I have tried the app on both iOS and android and it's pretty smooth on both platforms although a bit battery hungry.
