fever 9,884 #1 Posted September 16, 2013 (edited) I was thinking of buying an unusual. I use SteamRep for "exotics", but now TF2Items is no longer working (everything seems to show as "not found") I am not sure how I can check an items history. Any advice? Can anyone recommend a middleman? - Mike - 2,728 #4 Posted September 17, 2013 And mine are for sale too Personally I'd stay away from unusuals, too much grief and pain in the ass to deal with traders or for when you want to get rid of it you have to deal with shitty traders, again.
Barbaro 466 #5 Posted September 17, 2013 You don't need an Unusual. It's just a bunch of expensive pixels. Besides TF2Items and Backpack.tf, along with TF2Outpost, there aren't many places that I'm aware of that are capable of tracking that lengthy of the history, the item had to have appeared in their systems at some point. Finding a 'clean' unusual is not easy, more than likely, it's going to have been held at one point in a scammer's hands, or it might even be duped. I looked at the item, if the Original ID matches, and there's almost no history, chances are, he unboxed it, either recently or for some time. (Which by the way, your link directs to the player, not the trade or item = http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/14390149 & http://www.tf2outpost.com/item/440,1922792407,829,5 ) http://backpack.tf/item/1922792407 Guy's giving me the feeling of an asshole, (Also possible cheater) but if you really want that hat, then here's what I always suggest to newbies, or traders who a review might help clear a few minds. http://forums.steamrep.com/threads/beginners-guide-to-trading-selling.677/ http://forums.steamrep.com/threads/paypal-cash-trading-best-practices.683/ http://forums.steamrep.com/threads/what-constitutes-reputation.12391/ Him having no reputation thread worries me, but other than that, if you REALLY have that strong urge to own a hat that, from my view, snow effects would be nicer, then by all means. You can grab a middlederp from the list of course but make sure that you read their rules and warnings if you choose to add them, some charge fees, others have a system in place where you can reach them by messaging them via their respective community's forums, et centra, it's really weird. I'd personally stay away from GoV, MCT and Reddit MM's, for I don't trust them and with the exception of the MCT, both have shown history that seriously questions their integrity.
fever 9,884 #6 Posted September 17, 2013 Thanks all of you for the advice. I have used SteamRep for checking people out when I bought my strange gunslinger and kritz...tf2items was taken over by someone new a while ago and apparently is no longer being updated. I did have a look on the market but I couldn't find what I was looking for. Thanks again, all very helpful as usual I'll think about it some more.
