Valve's Steam Machine

So they're saying 2015 for the release of their console, with high profile titles to coincide with the launch. I'd be amazed if they've been working on a new game engine, HL3, L4D3 or TF3 AND a console but as they no longer make games maybe they only need to achieve two of those things and then license out the engine to a third party. Makes you wonder what the titles might be for such an important launch for Valve.

Evolve mebbe? Could be big and perhaps next gen. Though its more likely to be tf3 an l4d3.

No way is it gonna be HL 3.

It's going to be Left 4 Dead 3. It's in development already. TF3 will never happen - someone from Valve said TF2 is like their Frankenstein - they just throw concepts and ideas into it and if people like it, they'll implement it into one of their future games. Half Life 3 will happen when Gaben dies.

Yeah, I'm not sure where they would go with a TF3...HL3 I can't see happening until the next major release of their engine.

I honestly wouldn't be suprised if a new game came out in tandem with the Steam OS. To me it makes sense, since it allows them to show off the actual OS rather than how L4D3 is different than L4D2.

I don't know that I trust Valve with an OS. The UI for Steam is shit, and they have a terrible track record of fixing bugs and other stupid little things in their games. Just imagine the perfect combination of an OS that doesn't do what it's supposed to, and a lengthy wait before it's fixed, and you'll have the Steam OS.

The announcement of DirectX 12 kinda makes Linux gaming with OpenGL totally unnecessary. Unless Khronos get their act together, you're going to see Windows PC games outperforming the native SteamOS titles by a considerable margin and with cheaper devices. I still don't see who this product is aimed at.

Makes me wonder if we might see "Only available on SteamOS" at some point in the future...or possibly "Play Half Life 3 on steamOS!"

Sounds like valve marketing.

"Lets create a fake game where players gain points for their team by buying cards on the market or buy games and make money with it"
