Ban request for @BadNewsMike64 and ANAL SNIFFER-ER

Recommended Posts

This is on the Lotus 24/7 New Jersey Turbine server in Team Fortress 2. IP 66.55.148.156:27025. 11/07/2014 from approx. 11:20PM to 11:40PM in the New York timezone.

A person named ANAL SNIFFER-ER came on, started spamming, and threatened to votekick anybody who muted his microphone chat (only said once). He started off by saying multiple times "SHREK IS LOVE, SHREK IS LIFE" with what seems like a keybind. The votekick threat was said only once, but a threat like that isn't something that should be joked around with. His Steam ID is STEAM_0:1:58894555. According to his name, and the fact he only recently got Team Fortress 2, it seems like this account was purposely made for trolling.

@BadNewsMike64 was trolling around and he even admit it, while continuing it. He said that of all servers, he chose Lotus specifically in order to spam on it, saying that's the only reason he was there. He followed up by saying he didn't care if he was banned or not. I also quickly caught him trying to keep provoking reactions through somebody (he said "Cry some more" or something like it, as if saying out loud he was attempting griefing). There isn't much else to say about him but that (EDIT: He at some point keybind-spammed "TOUCH MY BOOTY" [eck!]). His Steam ID is STEAM_0:1:58144429.

As something I caught on the last minute, the two were also spamming intelligence-drops (luckily, it wasn't for long). That's to say, one of them drops it, the other picks it up, and they do it in rapid succession so that the announcer says it out loud and annoys everybody, for those who don't know or haven't seen it yet.

There were likely some other players who joined in the "fun", but I don't recall that being the case.

That's it. Sorry if I was too vague, I hope you can find evidence in the server logs.

No demo. Sorry. It didn't come to my mind at the time. L-r|Biscuit, however, was also there and he might have recorded a demo.

Thanks for reporting I'll look into it.

For evidence if they are using mic then yeah record a demo or if it is in chat you can always take a console dump by typing condump into console or screenshots.

Update: Waiting to speak with them.

The demo didn't come into my mind at the time, and because of an error of some sort the console kept showing repeated messages that flooded the entire screen, so that was a no-go.

Yeah I get the repeated messages, its still worth taking a condump though....we can search through the file for keywords and find what we need that way.

These red error messages are totaly normal, everyone has them and you don't need to worry about them. Neither TF2 nor your computer will crash.
They are not part of the console log, that's why you don't see them on condumps.

Best thing to do when you see these messages, simply ignore them. They don't effect any commands you put in the console, you might not see the command confirmation because to many red lines "pushed" these command lines out of the console window.

Best thing to do when anyone is doing something you think they shouldn't, just record a demo. Demos are very small files, better to have one that you never actually submit in a ban request, than not having one for a ban request.

We also have online chatlogs somewhere. I made a thread in the admin lounge regarding those.

However I have faith in the method of contacting the guy himself, maybe more time consuming, but thorough and fairer to all I suppose! Good luck.

Thanks for the information. The error messages weren't the issue, I just didn't know about the condump command.

I would have recorded a demo, but it didn't come to my mind at the time.

Recording a demo isn't too hard, uploading it somewhere can be tricky...a guy posted a demo over an hour long earlier today which helped with investigating an issue on a server.  He uploaded to his Twitch which works via YouTube.  I tend to use DropBox.  Give me a shout ChainManner if you want me to show you how/what to do :)

Thanks, but I know how to make one and upload one, it's just that I missed my chance to.

@BadNewsMike64

OK, I caught up with @BadNewsMike64.  We had a conversation where I got his side of events, obviously we don't have much evidence so he got a few stern words in his ear and a "OK, chill your beans and lets try again"...I told him if I saw his name with regards to disruption again and it was clear he was causing trouble, that I'd take a dim view as 1) its a second offence and 2) he told me he would not let it happen again.  I also told him it would likely be a long if not permanent ban next time.

ANAL SNIFFER-ER

A friend of @BadNewsMike64.  I told Mike I'm trying to contact him, he told me that he would get him to accept my friend request.  I told him if he declines it or avoids me then I'll take the view that the report is correct and will put a temp ban in place.

Admin/Staff: I have the chat log from my conversation with @BadNewsMike64 if required.

Mind posting it in admin forum? I'd be interested in what he said.

Follow up (I had to wait a few days before the ANAL SNIFFER-ER was online again)

I specced a game with this guy playing with JB (separate call, I was following up on this and wasn't in the admin group chat where the call was made which JB responded to). I saw no issues in the 20 mins I was in the game with ANAL SNIFFER-ER...sure there was a little banter from others but nothing we don't expect on our servers. I talked to ANAL SNIFFER-ER in Steam chat just to make sure we were both on the same page and I now consider the matter closed.

JB: in that particular game, ANAL SNIFFER-ER had changed his name to Master Disaster.

TL/DR: No action taken against either player, both given warnings as to what we expect on our servers though.

Yeah, I was there as well as fever said. I saw the call 10 minutes late because I was afk and there was no problem when I joined. I was there until now, no problems.

Just mister disaster beeing like "play the game admin, don't idle in spawn" when I send a psays to fever and badnewsmike. But who cares about that..
