Remember when Lotus was remotely important?

I am a former Lotus donor (had been for about two years). Seeing what it's become over the last year, with the fast spawn and the never ending rounds, is really depressing. So much community just gone. Most everyone I met there has moved to Skial, which, when we all started moving, was simply unheard of. A little over a year ago, going to Skial was playing easy mode. Not anymore...Teddy, Vins, Entite...all the actually worthwhile players have moved on from Lotus. Now, Lotus is disgusting. It's such a worthless set of servers, and I really wish they would fix it.

15 second spawns / 3 cap wins...bring it back.

Get it right Lotus. Maybe your donors will return.

We had to move with the times when Valve significantly screwed over community servers at the start of the year. The changes were tried out as a test, then based on feedback received and stats from the servers we kept some of the changes on some servers and reverted back on others (e.g. we have one of our UK 2 Fort servers back to how it used to be and one kept on fast spawn). We're lucky enough to have an owner who listens to the people who use his servers and keeps his finger on the pulse of what is happening in the wider community.

Our numbers are increasing, whilst other communities are closing down. Sure some people have moved on, but some have moved on from TF2, rather than just our servers. We have also recently added a jump/surf server and an MGE server.

You're not obliged to come back, but you'll always obviously be welcome. But whether you do or not, Lotus will continue to listen to its players, donors and members and provide the servers people want to play on which are free from hackers.

Check yourself before you wreck yourself. There are fast spawn servers, and there are non-fast spawn servers. Fastspawn + alltalk is enabled on all servers until the server has at least 12 players on - that way people don't get bored of playing on an half-empty server.

I personally think we have a nice mix of each now - which was a direct result of player feedback.  But I get where you are coming from as well.

I think Fever and Ruby basically said what needed to be said. There is plenty variety considering server in Lotus. We recently even added some surfer servers in there as well. if you don't like our servers, we're not forcing you to play on them. There is constructive criticism and there is that "Now, Lotus is disgusting. It's such a worthless set of servers"

I personally love the lotus servers. I started playing on them on and off back in Feb, and became a full regular in June. Not only did lotus provide a warm and welcoming environment, it is the reason I started playing TF2 again after over 2 years away. I have made a huge amount of friends here, and thoroughly love being both in the clan, and playing on the servers.

 

Mana and the staff work very hard to provide a huge variety of servers; and from what I've seen in my short time here, they not only listen to suggestions, but actively seek out peoples opinions, they invite discussions and they have made me feel like my opinion really matters. I cannot say I've felt close to the same in my 11 years of gaming, and thoroughly respect them for it.

 

Whilst you'll likely dismiss my opinion as I've not been around long, it doesn't matter to me that much. I'm sorry you're unhappy with the way things are, but things change over the course of the years, and I'm sure if the majority of people shared your opinion, the servers wouldn't be full most of every evening. Both the fast respawn and #2 2fort servers are hugely popular, and provide both standard and fast versions of TF2 to those who wish to play it. 

 

I can appreciate that some matters might not to be your specific taste, but Lotus can and does provide a home for huge numbers of players, and whilst we have issues and disagreements the same as every other group of people on the planet, we are on the whole a very tight knit community full of a wide variety of people who care deeply and enjoy putting the time and effort in, for us to be so much more than a group of people who play games. I love the team.

 

And as for lotus not being important - well maybe in the grand scheme of things it's not important to the TF2 community, but it sure as hell as important to everyone here.

Got it right already, which is why we are still around. Those communities that did not change after valve's quickplay changes have disappeared.
