Ruby 9,039 #1 Posted September 10, 2014 http://www.cnet.com/news/microsoft-said-to-be-nearing-2b-plus-deal-for-minecraft-maker/ (I've learnt my lesson. No more kotaku links.) According to The Wall Street Journal, Microsoft may be nearing a deal, worth more than $2 billion, to purchase Mojang, Minecraft's publisher. Discuss? Seems like Microsoft is stepping its videogame game up...

Ultimate 702 #3 Posted September 10, 2014 Not a huge fan of these rumor articles, if anyone's interested a copy of the Wall Street Journal article that has a 'source' is pictured here- http://i.imgur.com/dYSiNTF.jpg With Mojang's history and attitude I doubt something like this could go through. Looking forward to a potential Minecraft Season Pass though!...

SinisterPixel 143 #9 Posted September 10, 2014 So according to Bloomberg it was actually Mojang that approached Microsoft about the deal after Notch became close with Phil Spencer. Not only that, it's worrying that Mojang have taken a no comment stance on the matter given that they usually dispel false rumours as soon as they're public. Hey Notch, remember Rareware? They're doing well, right?

Infin 763 #11 Posted September 11, 2014 Having followed Notch since before Minecraft when he was working on Wurm Online, it makes me sad to see how he much he's changed into a money-grabbing monster.
Canti 386 #12 Posted September 11, 2014 I don't think any less of him for it. No sane person would turn down $2,000,000,000. But what is Microsoft planning to do with it?
