fever 9,884 #1 Posted January 24, 2015 I've been reading recently that hard supports at the start of the game should buy a hell of a lot of consumables and "hand them out like candy". I'm gonna try it, be warned, shared tangos incoming. There is also a video containing some warding/counterwarding tips From FluffAndStuff. It contains some really good warding advice, shows some of the commands you can use in private games to instantly spawn items, increase gold etc and is pretty short.
+Dr. Obvious 14,606 #2 Posted January 24, 2015 The biggest problem with that is that it will only work against "advanced players". In a regular pub game, it's mostly a waste of wards.

I think they're talking more about regen items so they can stay in lane longer and zone out the offlane. "when I actually bought shit loads of consumables it really lets you solo zone an offlaner. It changed my pub life." ~Purge

fever 9,884 #5 Posted January 24, 2015 I am talking about the wards video in your post. :-P Oh yeah you're right about that. I rarely bother counterwarding...I should be more vigilant, I'm working on it. Knowing some of those locations in the vid catch a lot of common ward locations is good though. Knowing some of those locations in the vid catch a lot of common ward locations is good though. They're common ward spots at a higher standard, not much point trying to counter ward anything other than the runes or spots you know they've got wards in in our games, as you're probably just throwing 100 gold away. You're probably right, but when vids from YouTube dota players start showing wards spots which are not the usual pub spots, people are going to use them. I don't always ward the usual places, because I've seen newer positions which I didn't expect and I only have 550 hours or something. My radar for when the enemy has vision of us is shit though...which doesn't help.

Domino 3,168 #10 Posted January 25, 2015 So wards and consumables isn't a standard on Dota?
+Dr. Obvious 14,606 #11 Posted January 25, 2015 So wards and consumables isn't a standard on Dota? It is. But most people only buy them for themselves.  I just played a game, hard support, trying to give away those. Pugde: "nope", and runs away. Bounty Hunter: "fuggoff" Spectre: "stop feeding" (wtf he died more often than me)
The Hungry Caterpillar 585 #12 Posted January 25, 2015 So wards and consumables isn't a standard on Dota? I buy 0 consumables on WD, I prefer to rush arcane boots for the mana, then again, I don't exactly play hard support
fever 9,884 #13 Posted January 25, 2015 I buy 0 consumables on WD, I prefer to rush arcane boots for the mana, then again, I don't exactly play hard support I noticed this phenomenon occurring and think it's a bloody good idea, especially if you have two supports.
