kuttlewug 28 #1 Posted March 27, 2009 A strategy type game. I've played rise of nations, sins of a solar empire, and a few others. I tried the company of heroes demo and liked it. The problem is I play a few games and then get bored and I want something I will come back to. I don't know what game this would be and if its a few years older game I don't care. kuttlewug 28 #7 Posted March 27, 2009 The problem is that my video card is whats keeping me from running games smoothly, (I have 128MB and most games require 256MB so my computer tells me) and since this is a family computer for everyone to use my parents are not going to let me take it apart and upgrade things. I could do that with the windows XP thats downstairs but I don't have the money or knowledge about computers to upgrade and buy parts and all that. It's not enough just to know how much onboard RAM is on it. But yes, 128MB is going to limit it a lot, no matter how good it is. My old card had 256 and I could barely run TF2 on medium-low settings, so I'm not sure how you're handling that. And, I'd say StarCraft is a good bet. Yeah yeah, overrated starcrap failure game that everyone plays, blah blah. I still have fun with it. The Battle Chest, as far as I know, is still being sold at $20. Comes with the original game, the Expansion, strategy guides, and some other stuff. Edited March 27, 2009 by h3gi
kuttlewug 28 #9 Posted March 27, 2009 What video card is it? It says I have this video card You Have: NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE nForce 430 (GeForce 6150SE nForce 430)
Miyari 33 #10 Posted March 27, 2009 I've been playing Fallout 3 and Empire Total War, they're both great but are somewhat graphically taxing. I'm really, really annoyed that my PC isn't running Fallout 3 properly when it should be - I have to play on the lowest setting so the game looks terrible. Miyari 33 #12 Posted March 28, 2009 I have to even turn down the settings for tf2 to low or medium so I know how it is =/ My TF2 settings are all out of whack. They should be higher, I think, I just haven't wanted to fuck around the in the console. The thing that's pissing me off though is that my PC is perfectly capable of handling the damn game at the highest settings, and it refuses to. >:| I think I'm going to build a new PC soon. h3gi 5 #13 Posted March 28, 2009 It says I have this video cardYou Have: NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE nForce 430 (GeForce 6150SE nForce 430) That's what I thought. You don't have a physical video card; that's on your motherboard. You can't do anything with that. It would be EXTREMELY beneficial to get an actual video card, even a cheap one. Even $50 can get you a huge upgrade over what you have. As for installation, it's much easier than everyone thinks; you practically open the side, unscrew a small plate, jam the card in a slot, and connect a power cable to it. After that, it's just driver updates. But I won't tell you what to do. I'll just say that you don't actually have a real video card and that's the reason your framerate is suffering. Well I would have to come up with an extremely good explanation for my parents to be opening up the computer and messing with it, how it would SO benefit everybody and I know exactly what I'm doing. Or (probably better idea) I thought go to best buy it get that geek squad thing they have to do it so I don't ruin the computer trying it myself. And of course pay for the whole thing. Plus I don't really know what type of card to get whats compatible, whats cheap all that. Edited March 28, 2009 by podsaurus
OVER9000JEWGOLDS 0 #15 Posted March 29, 2009 try playing a game called evil genius, it was kinda under the radar but it is a decent strategy game (make sure you get the patch for it or it will crash on you) if you are looking for diablo alternatives try theses one: Sacred (I dont think the second one will work with your video card) Nox Titant quest

OVER9000JEWGOLDS 0 #17 Posted March 29, 2009 Evil genius was a game with a lot of potential it is sad that all that is left of it is a mod wiki(with the required patch to make the game not crash) and nothing else
