Not to get off the subject of pushin and shovin.....

The one big problem that I can see with this update is the noob factor. Can you imagine all the noobs that are going to be playing with all kinds of dumbass weapons coming from this update. As it is, half your team is noobs already.... now it will be 4 snipers that are running around with rifles that stun people instead of kill them or scatterguns that hold 40 shots that do no damage.... The regulars will have this update fine tuned and will still be dominating and the noobs will be getting thrown back into a naive la-la land. On the other hand maybe the game will become too complicated for them and they will give up faster?

* newbs playing with snipers, cant aim, so stun doesnt matter.

* even if newbs can aim, stun is not going to be 100%, but maybe 20%. So a newb who has an accuracy of 10% multiplied by a stun chance of 20% = chance to stun of 2%. I am fearing in my pants.

* Valve will never make a no damage gun.

* A video game will never be too complicated, especially a valve game which logs extensive data on their players.

So you can repeatedly get trumped by the one guy on the server who has the best random enchantment combination on his weapon? Hahahaha.

Yes, just wait for it. I'll get the best weapon yet. 100% criticals that heal on impact!

It also reduces your HP to 5, stuns you for five seconds every ten seconds, and reduces your movement speed to -30%, causing you to move backwards.

Even newbs hit sometimes, especially if they go for body shots.

Even the worst of newbs will hit more than once out of ten shots. Body shots + a large player count = a pretty good chance to hit.

* Valve will never make a no damage gun.

Ever heard of the Medi-Gun? Or the KritzKrieg?

* A video game will never be too complicated, especially a valve game which logs extensive data on their players.

Ever played EVE Online?

Lawl, I rip people apart with the medic gun. Also, giving a kritz to the right player=game over. Just look at the Keg/KillerMiyari combo

Also, valve didn't make EVE :-x

I know. He said "a video game will never be too complicated." I just took it as he said it. Parenthetical phrases are supposed to be ignored :)

True, but I'm pretty sure what he's saying is from knowing what kinds of games/work Valve puts out. Kinda goes hand-in-hand with talking his talking about TF2. There's shitloads of over complicated games out there..everyone knows that xD

Yeah. Valve games are a nice break from the complexities of EVE. Playing a good Heavy = Hold Fire Button + Point + Retreat when health < 75 pts. Playing well in EVE requires up to an hour of preparation.

I get killed by newbs too once in a while. The game has inherent variability and randomness associated with it. Whats your point? The point is, for the most part, its not going to impact me.

Way to argue hypothetical semantics and failing to see the big picture of the original argument.

Again, trying to be witty and failing to argue the original point.

Yeah, its easy as shit. Look at it from a marketing perspective. Who are are general audience the games are targeted for? 13-30year old average people. They aren't targeted for ph.D in quantum mechanics and nobel prize winners. If you make a game too damn hard and confusing, you obviously are limiting your potential customers arent you? Is losing money a good thing? I don't even need to go into specific examples. And dont try to go off on a tangent by saying the actual target audience is 12-32 or 14-40 years old or some stupid response cuz I just made those numbers up to make a point.

another thing.

twice the damage, and half the ammo clip is always better. I would take 2 grenade clip, and 4 stickies if they did twice the damage. That would be like always crits. plus you spend less time firing and reloading to do the same amount of damage.
