teh_pwnerer 279 #1 Posted September 10, 2012 let's hear your "I was gaming so hard..." stories... I had one from this past weekend I'll share. I was gaming sooooo hard - my gaming box made a loud SNAP noise, then everything went black. At first, I assumed it was my power supply... usually when things go BAM that's the first place to check. But when I pressed my power button the machine tried to start up again, only to go black after about 3 seconds. Opened up the box, and what did I discovery? Well, I was gaming soooo hard that the graphite heatsink/fan mount broke! One of the tabs that the heatsink attaches to snapped off, and the heatink/cooler sprang out like a jack-in-the-box which instantly thermalled my CPU. It was one of the tabs on this piece: The PC hadn't been moved in months, and I was right in the middle of a cs:go match when it happened - talk about bad timing!! Of course no computer stores have this part in stock, which forced me to buy a new mobo/cpu combo unless I wanted to wait weeks trying to find this part on eBay. Oh well, at least now I'm rockin' a H77 board with i5-3470 cpu (upgrade from my AM2 board with Phenom X4 9950 CPU). A nice jump in P score in 3dmark 2011!! (went from P4813 to P7043 with my Radeon 5970 card): http://www.3dmark.com/3dm11/4348447 Anything interesting happen to you guys during a hard-core gaming session???

Se7en 10,762 #3 Posted September 10, 2012 My only mishap while gaming was about a year ago, during a TF2 session, my left click button on the G5 I use to have split in 2 parts rendering the mouse unusable and forcing me to invest in a G500. P.S. cocaine.

Possum 10,776 #5 Posted September 10, 2012 (edited) Shit man, that must have been scary. At least the Intel heatsinks screw directly into the motherboard rather than the silly AMD system. Now the motherboard has to break for this to happen again, which is pretty unlikely. My rig has not had any such problems as of yet. I did break my mouse through rage once, smacked my hand down on the desk, not realising the mouse was still in said hand. Crunch. At least it gave me an excuse to invest in a Deathadder... pockets 1,841 #6 Posted September 10, 2012 One time I was gaming so hard my computer exploded into a badass fireworks show, all the girls in a two mile radius got pregnant, Rock and Roll Jesus appeared in my room and played the solo to Stairway to Heaven with his teeth, and I rode off into the sunset on the back of a Vietnamese child.
Willerms 1,794 #7 Posted September 10, 2012 I tried gaming hard once. I fell asleep in class the next day and my teacher yelled at me.

IceSage 58 #9 Posted September 13, 2012 I was gaming so hard that the back of my computer made a large spark, and blew out the power to half of my apartment building. After going into the basement and resetting the fuse like nothing happened, I returned to a computer with a very dead power supply. ...And that's why I had a 3 month vacation away from Team Fortress 2. - Oli - 1,121 #11 Posted September 16, 2012 xD One time I moved my computer to find the bitch not booting properly - powered but didn't reach the bios screen. Managed to sort it no problems. My old pc - was gaming pretty hard on tf2 when suddenly the spy sapped my computer and gave me blue screen of death. The sapper never quite made it to destroying my computer, but rendered it pretty much useless xD And once the headset snapped across the top and broke the wire connecting to the other earpad. So uhmm, I had a left earpad and a microphone that worked, but other than that no way of keeping it on my head or working. And yet I still managed to fix it Still the one I'm using now, but seeing as this was like 5 months ago I should really invest in a new headset.
