Re-post :

For me:

When looking at my historical sessions it looks as if on Sept 29 there was a glitch in stats, but was resolved by the 30th, not sure what this all means, just sharking sharing data to help

Yeah as more of them accept my friend invite, I'll inform them of the thread. trey.ambiguous from x24 also indicated they had no issue with it.

To further elaborate on this. We'd move away from using GameMe. Instead we'd run the stats processing entirely in memory on one of our servers. We have certain servers with 16GB ram free even during high load, which is definitely enough to put our whole stats system into memory. Then as backup we'd get a new server which would replicate data from the in-memory database to serve the website (and of course act as a backup).

So the ingame stats system should be quite fast, and the website would replicate the data somewhat slower but it would all be there. Because it was already processed on a much faster system.

This would also allow us to have complete access to our stats database/website. That is to say if we wanted to make some small changes (we would avoid big changes so we don't miss out on official updates) we could.

GameMe would keep our old stats for 14 days I believe. That should be enough time to test the new system and if for some reason it's not good, we could go back to our old stats. Or even reset GameMe and start over on it.

The replacement that I am referring to is very similar to GameMe (GameMe Was previously known as HLstatsX). It's known as HLstatsX:Community Edition:

http://www.hlxce.com/

If you want to check out some example sites using it:

PS: We used this before here on Lotus actually. Prior to GameMe.

PPS: Bonus for our staff. HLX:CE Has a link under player profiles which can show you what server the player has played on.

Maybe this should be discussed in the TF2 forum since it affects more than just recruits and members.

That's why I made this thread in our public Team Fortress 2 forum.

Not quick enough for ninja edit.

Two threads about the same thing makes it a bit confusing. Cut a brother some slack. :)

Go for it Mana. Maybe is not fair for the top 100 players but also it isn`t fair for the rest of the players who have no chance to get there,so they lose interes. And also I suport a anual reset, just to avoid this problem in the future.

I say reset them quarterly.

Encourages sportsmanship and competition.

Lotus also needs something to draw people back from RB.. this could help.

Hello, I am indeed an old man but love everything new. I therefore voted for the renewal of Statistics. I find it best, however, if only the positions are renewed.

And each quarter or half year. T

The Kills, death and Current Ranks be accepted, just as, for example, on this server of CSS.

http://hellsgamers.gameme.com/players/css4

Thereby retain the best players like Tomo your recent great results.

I like this idea, with a few adjustments.

People will be more competitive to try and reach the first place with an annual reset in my opinion. Currently it's the top players being miles ahead of other players you would have to play for days on end for a few months just to catch up with them. Unfortunately resetting will likely cause great upset amongst some of these players. However, so that the hard work of these individuals is preserved a collective stats page, maybe even collective ranking could be done whereby ALL stats from every year are retained for them as well as the annual resets (see later if annual resets happens). This would therefore allow for the persistant hard work of individuals over a long time to remain but also allow newer players the opportunity to actually reach the higher ranks. Although not ideal for the current top players such as tomo and imotep, resetting the stats now and porting over to the new version probably seems most appropriate.

In addition to this, Jayserps idea of a yearly (or other time periods) 1sts seems like a good one. To allow for the players who have worked their rank up high including them in the first reset stats would be fair.

I probably know some of the top players will still object to this, after potentially years of playing but it looks like it is be the best option, despite upsetting to lose so many kills recorded. Besides, if they are so highly ranked for them to remain high they will need to be playing a lot currently, and so therefore after the reset if they kept playing they would just reach the high ranks again?

What about the stats whores, like me? lol

You will whore some more and get better stats, now that you're even more pro than a year ago.

Dayum, will have to re-eat many sandviches wink.png

p.s. if it didn't make sense, I'm all for it

You make sense? When?

Maybe we could have regular (annual?) stat resets with a historical posting of the top "10/50/100/500/whatever" That might be a nice balance between giving opportunities to newcomers and giving those who put a lot of time/effort/skill into their ranking the status they earned.

There are few competitions in life that don't end at some point and start fresh for the sake of fairness.

This way the top people are still top, for that time period.

(This is just my random thoughts, not anything that has been discussed by the Lotus leadership).

Stats do *not* equal status. If stats = status in your world, you're taking this too serious.

tf2-serious_5.jpg

just do it ;-)

...that's why you asked me for your recent stats lately...

That aside, i voted for it.

Status

Noun:

  • The relative social, professional, or other standing of someone or something: "an improvement in the status of women".
  • High rank or social standing.

I think stats and ranking meet the definition of status.

Ranking may or may not have a correlation to skill, but stats certainly do and good stats do equal higher status to some in the tf2 community.

Whether or not they hold the same significance to everyone is a separate issue.

Ah, it's been a while since Buzz Killington graced us with his presence. Webster's Dictionary defines "who gives a shit" as a question. From the Latin givus shitum tu meaning "those who care are not likely to use their fecal matter to show it"
