Marcel the Shell 403 #1 Posted December 10, 2012 Just a little rant about the witch hunters over at SteamRep, this weekend the super sleuths who are more concerned with playing dress-up then killing peeps, marked me as a suspected scammer alt. http://steamrep.com/profiles/76561198041464872 Whats unbelievable to me is that all this was done without one iota of evidence or discussion. As some of you might know I have some valuable items in my bp, I keep my bp private in order to deter hackers and scammers. Somehow some over zealous admin has decided that I am a potential threat and has therefore marked me. Look at all that gleaming evidence ! What shocks me even more is that I now have to prove my innocence to these idiots. Why is it my responsibility to prove myself to them when they have wrongfully accused me of something that has no proof? Furthermore, they did not contact me to to discuss this accusation. You would think branding someone as a scammer alt with 1400+ hours in TF2 would require some proof. I could understand if I had 0-20 hrs in TF2, but seriously why would anyone have 1400+ hours on a scammer alt acct ? This to me is a great example of letting some admins on a witch hunt. All of this could have been prevented with a simple discussion between the admins and myself before this had happened. but instead SteamRep has decided to rule 'guilty' without any valid evidence or contacting the accused. I had to find out from a trader friend of mine who checks SteamRep occasionally, wouldn't I be entitled to a note or msg from SteamRep ? I have lost all respect for SteamRep and the admins that serve them. Thanks for letting me rant
Rurumie 306 #2 Posted December 10, 2012 ill say it like this... weither you have 1 hour or 2000000 hours, doesn't change the fact. that the chance the person is a scammer or not, is about the same. it's about the same for hackers. do they care how many hours they used on the game, before they started hacking?. no. 1 way or another. i'm not going to say you scam or not. but i'd suggest poking them as hell, until they actually give a proper explenation / fix what they did. (personal note from me, who the hell cares about steamrep anyway?.. i've never used it and never will)

Thanks for letting me rant Strange indeed that there's no results for your SteamID nor the 64 version...I'll see if I can find some answers, chances are, an investigation was done and concluded in SR or by an affiliate *Probably FailOP*, and your ID was marked as you might have been associated with a scammer. There's a good enough reason if you bothered to check your friend's reputation, as two are marked by SOP as Scammers...and one of them got a Trade Ban from Valve. 1st |steamID: Meepo11 |steamID32: STEAM_0:0:57666581 |steamID64: http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198075598890 |customURL: |steamrepURL: http://steamrep.com/profiles/76561198075598890 2nd |steamID: darkness-07 ☢ [uKGT] |steamID32: STEAM_0:1:23180189 |steamID64: http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198006626107 |customURL: http://steamcommunity.com/id/harrytheboywholovessandviches |steamrepURL: http://steamrep.com/profiles/76561198006626107 3rd |steamID: "HappyParazit" LF god tir burnig |steamID32: STEAM_0:0:34008359 |steamID64: http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198028282446 |customURL: http://steamcommunity.com/id/chuvak_v_shtanax |steamrepURL: http://steamrep.com/profiles/76561198028282446 Your first step to possibly fight that tag would be removing all three from your friends list. Rurumie 306 #9 Posted December 11, 2012 who the fuck pays 1 Grand for a stupid hat that isn't even real? O.o i do.. mostly to support the games, if its a "free to play". aka like games such as pwi, boi, ms, etc. usually they make a game which is 100% free and gives you possibility to buy stuff, which last for x amount of time and allows you to support them for making the game to begin with. it's like asking "who the hell wants to play WoW, if all you pay for is access" or "who the hell would want to pay for a game, you hardly would play anyway" either way. im fine with it. so i don't have an issue in that part \o/.. beside. they need to make money somehow, to keep running. else they would be shut off and the game would go down eventually then.(mostly referred to f2p mmorpg, which has an income on virtual items / shops). You could be right...but with people constantly making bad decisions and Feds getting involved...yeah. Dunno, but I can sorta agree with you Rhythm but when I think about it too much, my head hurts. Thanks for taking the time DV . Had a long chat with Mattie last night about this, it should be resolved in a few days. That is what I dislike about the situation. I heard, hope things are taken out in a timely fashion, just curious as to who fired that flare on you, there were two massive investigations done by the DGN, which resulted in over 40 or something people being marked for fake reputation/alt of scammers/Scammer accomplices, I did not see a single connection from them to LotusClan or any members/recruits, had I seen something, I'd probably shoot Mana/Pro/someone an e-mail about it before you have angry traders starting a shitstorm here, and some communities, such as OP, are always on the prowl for Scammer Alts/Accomplices. Lol, remember that guy who made the prices spread list who totally put whatever he wanted and altered the whole economy....totally legit business. Everyone went by that list..... That's still pending, everyone who goes by it as if set in stone is an idiot. It's a guide and always has been. http://forums.steamrep.com/threads/tf2-spreadsheet-scandal.9913/ & http://forums.steamrep.com/threads/76561197986567122-smokedgouda001-and-76561198037908684-stf2-updated.9825/ i think one of the rules is that you cant have a hidden back pack, alot of rep sites dont want you to have it hidden and will ban or block or what ever they do ,,,, i get your frustration tho. That's because it opens it up to a breeding ground for marked accounts to dump their merchandise in a 'legitimate' account and then re-claim at a later date, or simply lose the items while Steam places a Trade Ban. It's just much too prone to those kinds of accusations and even approved cases where the private backpack holder is marked as an accomplice or possible Alt. There's just no way around it, really no reason for it to be private either, if that were the case, Valve Employees would have theirs private wouldn't they? Making an account private, there's legitimate and acceptable reasons for that one, but it then falls back to traders who are buying/selling items for money...and thus begins the same old argument. If you're trading for monies or any kind of currency, Inventory must remain Public at all times, regardless of Profile Privacy, otherwise, accusations will be fired off, just like that Potato no-life in the Reddit post.
