They were smarter than dolphins or whales. +JB. 4,800 #5 Posted November 7, 2014 I have some guy called K.S.P who keeps adding me and sending me these scam attempts.. message says the same "I'm new to tf2 and noob, unboxed unusual pls help" As if I give a fuck about them.
Nirrox 358 #6 Posted November 7, 2014 First post in over a year *wooo* It's seems they are quite active at the moment. Another "new" method of them is sending people links with a .png ending (so you'd think its a picture). Now everyone should know not to click on random links, but as you usually get them from a person on your friendslist (happened to me a few times) you can sometimes forget that. I'm not into the whole programming-thingy myself, but whats apparently happening if you click the link is this: If you click this link, it will download a .scr file, which will hijack your steam account. Your steam account will start to send the same link to your friends. I tend to just block people sending me links like that ...
+JB. 4,800 #7 Posted November 7, 2014 don't click links, don't get spammed. easy But yeah, I get more of these recently as well. We know about this, unfortunately enough people don't know.
Jesusfreak 312 #8 Posted November 11, 2014 don't click links, don't get spammed. easy But yeah, I get more of these recently as well. We know about this, unfortunately enough people don't know. Usually I ask their friend to add me and send a trade, but most of the times it's just a bot. I wish I could travel through the internet with a baseball bat to destroy their pc.

Se7en 10,762 #12 Posted November 11, 2014 (edited) I just insta-block random adds. Process goes like: check tf2r.com in case I won a raffle; check if they are lotus; check if they have any sort of friends in common with myself. If none of this criteria is met it's block time. +JB. 4,800 #14 Posted November 15, 2014 I got 3 of these WTF Dude?! [link] in the last week. Also, could we please not post the scam links? This is a public forum and there might be people who don't realise they're from scammers. We don't need to spread them further than steam.
Emma 1,798 #15 Posted November 15, 2014 "You will exchange this thing? [screenshot-url.com/Screen_NUMBERS.png]" After you've clicked on and downloaded it, you will send the same thing to every one of your friends. A lot of competitive players have been infected and I received about 2 of them in a day. Just saying in case any of you get the same thing, it's not a new trick but you get the occasional people who do fall for them.
