+JB. 4,800 #1 Posted December 20, 2014 So I fucked up.. I thought I pasted a folder after cutting it out, but apparently I didn't. I just now noticed after about 20 hours.. Is there any way to restore a folder that you cut out after copying other things and restarting few times? Like.. completely reset the computer to yesterday 20:00 or something, including files. Would be pretty disheartening if I had to redo all of it again. not talking about my hud :c

luop90 4,400 #4 Posted December 20, 2014 Did you set a system restore point to before that date? If so, than you should be able to back up to that point and your files will be there

+JB. 4,800 #8 Posted December 20, 2014 Well programs are files, so... Do you have any backups? Well the hud is only .res files in folders so it counts as files not as programm I guess. Not really, I thought I've pasted the backups there several times but turns out I never actually pasted any. Last backup is from october 30th.
Se7en 10,762 #9 Posted December 20, 2014 I've used this successfully in the past to recover files from an accidentally formatted partition . Recuva http://www.techradar.com/downloads/recuva
fever 9,884 #10 Posted December 21, 2014 If its simply copy and paste between reboots you're fooked...sorry...even if you had some software in place which does an auto back based on a change in your disk usage in certain partitions it doesn't sound like this is gonna help you out. I learnt this mistake before when working in London...its annoying. Always check the files you copied actually copied if they're important. Windows has a habit of blagging you. Another thing to be wary of is if the files are very important, always 'copy', never 'cut'....if you 'cut' and something goes down/wrong you could lose the files. Always copy and check the files were actually moved if it is important..
Domino 3,168 #11 Posted December 21, 2014 I thought 'cut' just greyed out the file but never got rid of it tit it was pasted? Have you tried a pc wide search to see if you pasted It somewhere else by mistake? Check recycle bin? You might be in luck If you've not rebooted and youve not copied much, ctrl-z might let you get that far back. Would anyone else have a copy of the files? Have you ever put them online? Emailed them etc? Other than a system restore, I'm not sure
fever 9,884 #12 Posted December 22, 2014 I thought 'cut' just greyed out the file but never got rid of it tit it was pasted? Supposedly so, but you can lose files still if you're unlucky. Would anyone else have a copy of the files? Have you ever put them online? Emailed them etc? Long shot but would Average Computer Guy have a copy? Sorry to bring it up but I thought maybe he might have what you need
