luop90 4,400 #1 Posted January 16, 2015 With the Lotus Frag Festival running for a second year, and the fact that I am constantly asked about how to do this/that, I thought I should just make a centralized place for demos. FAQ -How do I record demos? Type "record <demoname>" in console. (No quotes.)​-How do I review demos? Type "playdemo <demoname>" in console. (No quotes, use the command "stopdemo" to stop reviewing.)-What should I use to record gameplay/footage from demos? There are a multitude of options, but I recommend the Source Recorder or OBS. (Both are free and fairly simple to use, with great results.)-How can I edit speed / pause a demo? Type "demoui" in console, and it will open up the demo menu, use this.-But Luop, I want a faster way than opening up the demo UI every time, is there a good config for this? Why yes, this is the one I use. I recommend putting it in its own cfg file, and executing it when you are reviewing demos. Common Problems -Game crashes while loading/viewing demo. This is a HUD problem, and can easily be fixed by using the default hud. (Move your hud out of the tf/custom folder)-Game crashes while jumping to a specific tick, or while fast forwarding. Do not try to jump more than 5000 ticks, this will generally cause a crash. Set mat_queue_mode to 0 (if that doesn't work, try -2). Try the fix to problem #1. fever 9,884 #6 Posted January 16, 2015 My friend sent me a link to a demo he wanted me to review on "Brazzers"...I couldn't get it to work properly...well to be honest after a minute or two of reviewing I felt light headed and fell asleep....now there appears to be a block to that demo so I cannot finish reviewing it.
