0 [ST]Turtle 0 #2 Posted April 20, 2006 I assume you have either a Firewall or Router. Have a look at the other posts on this subject for information on what you need to do. For a firewall you just need to open some ports. When I used a Firewall (before I got a router) I had PC-Cillen. Within this I was able to make a specific policy which allowed me to open the ports I needed for BR. See {Dark}Kabukis post for the port numbers. You need to be a bit careful because some are TCP and some are UDP. For a Router the best practice is to configure a static address on your PC and forward the 3 ports to this. As I've said all routers do the same thing it's just how you configure them that is different. When I have time I will write a post on how to configure a static IP Address for those who do not know. As for your router (if you have one) if you let me know the make and model I may be able to give you some advice.

0 [ST]Turtle 0 #6 Posted April 20, 2006 AS Kabuki says open those ports on your firewall. They are UDP ports which you need to open in both directions. Those ports are unique to Battlerealms. (If you are just using Windows XP Firewall see the bottom of this post for what to do). The other ports that have been mentioned are generic ports to Gamespy Arcade, which are 6667 (IRC) 3783 (Voice Chat Port) 27900 (Master Server UDP Heartbeat) 28900 (Master Server List Request) 29900 (GP Connection Manager) 29901 (GP Search Manager) 13139 (Custom UDP Pings) 6515 (Dplay UDP) 6500 (Query Port) If you are using Windows XP firewall, do the following. 1. Open Control Panel 2. Double-Click "Security Center" 3.Where it says "Manage Security Settins For" Click " Windows Firewall" (A new window opens Windows Firewall) 4. Click "Exceptions" tab 5. Click "Add Program" then browse to where BR is installed by default it is C drive/program files/liquid entertainment/battle realms 6. Click on Battlerealms.exe then click "open" 7. Now highlight it from the list. 8. For those ppl with more than 1 PC click change scope. 9. You can try changing the options to my subnet only, as this might enable more than 1 PC to be able to host, but as I've only got 1 I dont know. The other thing you could do is on Custom List, list all the IP Addresses in the range 192.168.1.2 to 192.168.1.154..... hmmm maybe not! 10. Then click OK, and thats it!!! You will now be able to host, it does work because I've tried it. ONLY for WINDOWS though
0 IndominusRex 13 #7 Posted April 21, 2006 I tried it but nothing happen.. The only problem now is my router.. and I hate it! hehehe.. Anyway, thank you Viper!

0 [ST]Turtle 0 #9 Posted April 21, 2006 Yes, NP. I assume you are using windows XP. If you have another firewall I suggest you turn it off, but some firewalls even when you turn them off still block ports. In this case then the only things you can do is to either uninstall it or try and open the ports. GE, let me know your E-Mail address and I'll send you full instructions with diagrams

Can you post screenshots of the router config? Maybe you opened the ports wrong... Probably i can help you, if you post screens of the config... 0 Speedy 11 #24 Posted July 4, 2008 Vista is pretty obsessive with security. It probably is that you did something wrong with the router setup, but you could also have a firewall active, which will stop BR in most cases. Have you disabled the Windows Firewall in Vista? Also it would be helpful if you posted screens like poX asked. If you have Vista you'll probably be aware of the annoying security feature that asks you to confirm with a dialog box every time you open something. If you want to get rid of this (It has no effect on BR it's just very annoying): 1. Open Control Panel. 2. Under User Account and Family settings click on the "Add or remove user account". 3. Click on one of the user accounts, for example you can use the Guest account. 4. Under the user account click on the "Go to the main User Account page" link. 5. Under "Make changes to your user account" click on the "Change security settings" link. 6. In the "Turn on User Account Control (UAC) to make your computer more secure" click to unselect the "Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer". Click on the ok button. 7. You will be prompted to reboot your computer. Do so when ready. In order to re-enable UAC just select the above check box and reboot.
