Rivanor 1 #51 Posted April 14, 2009 Wouldn't any arena style map serve this purpose?Just sayin... Arena isn't on the Stock rotation, nor is it "goldrush" and the idea is to find who the best PLAYERS are.. That's not my idea. My idea is to have fun in a competitive environment. I don't care who the best players are.

Storm38 Team Win 0 #53 Posted April 14, 2009 We would/should probably do this in tourney/league mode where its not about if Blu caps but how long Red can hold them off for. Team the holds off longer = win. I think these guys have never played in a league/tourney etc and they think its all about just capping the point..Say your on Blu I'm on red. we play Gravelpit and you cap all 3 points in 5 mins now i'm on blu and you ar eon red, My team only gets 5 mins to cap all the points, @ the 5 minute mark if I havent capped, the game is over and you won that round. Now there is an idea. Nice Rydawg. Anyway we can set up a server like this or just use our imagination?

Exactly. It is all about time. In 6v6 on gravel pit, BLU usually wins and each team takes turns playing BLU. The winning team is the one that won in the fastest time. Even the best teams around (like Pandemic) lose the C point on gravel pit defense. This is standard. So you don't need to worry about defending until time runs out, you need to worry about stalling the offense as long as possible in order to get the best time. Think less about demo spam, 5 simultaneous ubers, and mass sentry farms and more about working together as a team. Now there is an idea. Nice Rydawg. Anyway we can set up a server like this or just use our imagination? Tournament mode is built-in to TF2. You just do "mp_tournament 1" on the server. I have never tried it with Gold Rush but I would be surprised if it isn't implemented. (I guess I need to verify that! hehe)
Nket 16 #55 Posted April 14, 2009 this is becoming too much like a match instead of a pubfest, which is what it was supposed to be. I have sworn off 6v6 competitive game play since if cost us a lot of good members and recruits due to drama involved. I was under the impression stock players were just going to invade your crappy server when you were on and stomp your "stacked" team into the ground. Can't make things too easy now
Chamrox 0 #58 Posted April 14, 2009 Stock guys have zero chance of beating the GR#2 regulars at Gold Rush. Zero chance. I'm an average player, ok? Last time I was on Stock and the map switched to GR, I felt like a God among children. I can't imagine what some of these really good players would do. I suggest you find a neutral map if you want to find competition.

If you want to drop out, that's fine with me, no hard feelings. I'd like you on the team, but I'd rather you were happy than enduring something you don't want to be a part of. Grush is the easiest map in this game as it only has a few strats, after that its all skill. SKill is what sets us apart
Chamrox 0 #61 Posted April 14, 2009 Please, you probably just caught us on "Anything goes Thursday" Last Thursday we could only attack using melee weapons and run backwards at all times when not attacking. The Thursday before that was engineer appreciation day and we didn't destroy any enemy engie buildings, or attempt to kill any enemy engies. And, the Thursday before that was "Mouseless Thursday" where you had to play without using your mouse. You have to make pwning the nubs fun somehow. So, you see, there are a number of reasonable explanations as to why you did well that one time. You being more skillful than the average Goldrusher doesn't enter into it. Organized is us in a chat and all going to stock 1 and goldrush and stomping each other out with pubscrubs as cannon fodder. Also without Lotus members in there it wont be official, since we provide the train.
Deadeye 0 #63 Posted April 15, 2009 It isnt like a 6 v 6 league. Its just friendly competition with you guys accusing goldrush guys of making it serious. The matches will be time based, and Im pretty sure about that. I dont see how else we can do it.

Chamrox 0 #65 Posted April 15, 2009 Congrats on beating up our practice squad. We all took the weekend off to bang hookers in Vegas while Xiel, our sniper, had "a little something to do" for the Navy near Somalia. You're lucky we weren't there or you guys would have been turned out like Ned Beatty on a canoe trip.

Rivanor 1 #67 Posted April 16, 2009 That would be great to verify if it does work on goldrush Verified. BLU plays first, pushes the cart all the way to the end or until time expires. Then teams swap and the new BLU team must get as many capture points as their opponents did in less time in order to win. This is considered one "round" (both teams playing BLU once) and it would be nice to do best of 3, with each team taking turns being BLU first, but we'll have to see how much time one round lasts and how the morale of the players is. Is going JDM 0 #69 Posted April 16, 2009 Will all of this be with goldrush's ridiculously stacked respawn time?

h3gi 5 #71 Posted April 18, 2009 (edited) Looks like your Pyro slot needs filling up. If Soldier's already taken, I'll be your pyroguy. Edit: Scratch that, Apparently 80% of everyone, including myself, thought the match was the 23rd, not the 30th. And 80% of that 80% can't make it on the 30th, including myself. Why was it placed on the 30th anyway? Lots of colleges have exam preps that week or moving. Edited April 19, 2009 by h3gi
SlingBlade 0 #72 Posted April 19, 2009 Guys that are playing try to play steel a few times. It's a pretty messed up map and it's nothing like any other valve maps.

I kinda doubt that 80% of everyone thought it was the 23rd since it was never announced as the 23rd (or else I am blind). Sorry, I graduated from college a while ago and don't keep track of the final exam schedules. If this match goes okay I _may_ host another one of these.
