Wouldn't any arena style map serve this purpose?

Just sayin... Arena isn't on the Stock rotation, nor is it "goldrush" and the idea is to find who the best PLAYERS are..

We would/should probably do this in tourney/league mode where its not about if Blu caps but how long Red can hold them off for. Team the holds off longer = win. I think these guys have never played in a league/tourney etc and they think its all about just capping the point..

Exactly. It is all about time. In 6v6 on gravel pit, BLU usually wins and each team takes turns playing BLU. The winning team is the one that won in the fastest time. Even the best teams around (like Pandemic) lose the C point on gravel pit defense. This is standard.

So you don't need to worry about defending until time runs out, you need to worry about stalling the offense as long as possible in order to get the best time. Think less about demo spam, 5 simultaneous ubers, and mass sentry farms and more about working together as a team.

Tournament mode is built-in to TF2. You just do "mp_tournament 1" on the server. I have never tried it with Gold Rush but I would be surprised if it isn't implemented. (I guess I need to verify that! hehe)

I have sworn off 6v6 competitive game play since if cost us a lot of good members and recruits due to drama involved. I was under the impression stock players were just going to invade your crappy server when you were on and stomp your "stacked" team into the ground.

FUnny cause when a couple us go to Grush we end up top points and we become the winning team.

Grush is the easiest map in this game as it only has a few strats, after that its all skill. SKill is what sets us apart

Last Thursday we could only attack using melee weapons and run backwards at all times when not attacking.

The Thursday before that was engineer appreciation day and we didn't destroy any enemy engie buildings, or attempt to kill any enemy engies.

And, the Thursday before that was "Mouseless Thursday" where you had to play without using your mouse.

You have to make pwning the nubs fun somehow.

So, you see, there are a number of reasonable explanations as to why you did well that one time. You being more skillful than the average Goldrusher doesn't enter into it.

The matches will be time based, and Im pretty sure about that. I dont see how else we can do it.

Why was it placed on the 30th anyway? Lots of colleges have exam preps that week or moving.

I kinda doubt that 80% of everyone thought it was the 23rd since it was never announced as the 23rd (or else I am blind).

Sorry, I graduated from college a while ago and don't keep track of the final exam schedules. If this match goes okay I _may_ host another one of these.
