I highly doubt they are going to enter the realm of micropayments for their own titles. It's not the Valve way and if you dig around, you'll find some pretty pointed articles from their key staff that highlights how much they loathe that type of thing. They were very reluctant to do it for the Xbox version until they had enough content to be sure that it was worth it. No doubt they were strong armed into it by external powers.

Valve was built on mods and additions to their titles being kept free. They have complete control of their PC titles and I don't see them moving to abuse this.

Just unique, common and rare items + helmets. Maybe magic potions and other WOW like material. Also leveling up (we already have this for weapons). Gabe loves WOW so he's making TF2 more like it.

Would it be possible to run a TF2 server with an old version of TF2 on steam? I know it can easily be done for sourcemods.

Does the stats reset affect your time played as well? I mean, my stats are fucked up (6800 points in one life as a medic, ~4 million heal points), but my time played is legit.

Hmmmm I sure hope this doesn't mean that people will have access to rare or unique items (Diablo 2 style). That would be a horrible idea. The exception is if it is limited to a specific mod.
