The Spy Update

Recommended Posts

4) They did something to cause massive FPS drop in certain maps, in Badwate ri usually maintain 50+ even when everyone is coming out of the gate ubers going etc but i was getting 30 or so last night

5) The fucking shadows are annoying, I would have to assuem this is a bug but with Valve you never know

I'm guessing these two are related. Some rendering bug that they should fix soon. The shadows seemed especially horrendous on Sawmill, and I'd really rather not try to play at 25 FPS on it because I know my computer is capable of more.

Though upon further inspection, some of the shadows seemed like that of huge sentryguns, so my best guess is that they somehow screwed up their skybox.

Someone said he got on TF2 for the update after weeks of hiatus, went Scoot, died once, and got four weapon drops at once. Thoughts?

Also, I got the Dead Ringer and Jarate within the first fifteen minutes.

It's completely random, so I believe it. Keg has only gotten like four weapons even though he's played twice as longa s me, but I've gotten mor than he has-- even though allt he ones I've gotten are shit. Fuck gay ben and his stupid bullshit.

6) WTFail did they do with the unlockables, now you just have to pick them up. Hello easy button.

I am not pleased with the new unlockable system; however, I was equally displeased with everyone achievement farming the day the new unlocks were available.

I personally enjoy getting achievements "in game", mostly through just playing normally, occasionally through intentionally trying to get them (ie heavy taunt kill from around the corner). I think Valve intended the original unlock system to cater to players like me who don't try to take the fast track to getting the unlockables. So now they have cracked down on achievement farmers without actually banning them. How this affects me remains to be seen.

I heard that you can't hold both new spy watches in your inventory at the same time. If that's true, that is complete BS.

Every update we get i go to an achievement server then i take a couple days off. I do this so i'm not on my reg server(stock) acting like a tard with the 20 other spy/snipers/heavy/medics/pyro etc. Its easier as well. Many people make their own server and have friends join and work on them, this is no different that an achievement server. I don't get why some people look down on them, who gives a rats ass, its available to everyone....

As in everything else we do, we want to iterate, so this is really the first step towards our desired implementation. We also think we have bugs in the system as well, since we’re seeing some players not finding any items after a few hours of play, which is not at all how it’s tuned. We want unlockable drops to be a pretty regular occurrence for players, with the cosmetic hats being the rare finds.

It's far closer to the Anaconda 8" barrel than that gun you posted.

Look at the one on the right especially. Add some metal along the barrel to provide a flat surface for the etching of the "image of your enemy's mother" and you have an almost exact replica.

The Anaconda is sexier too. The S&W Model 29 is a bit of a wimpy looking weapon in comparison.

The Anaconda looks alot like the S&W Model 29 I put up...

Bigger barrel yes but that's the only difference that I think would jump out at people right away. Plus the S&W is older so its doesn't look as modern as the Anaconda. Just saying I think when they were sitting around thinking up a new revolver someone brought up Dirty Harry and thats how the idea started

the S&W you posted doesn't have a wooden handle, and it's not silver, where the anaconda... well, is. 2 things that really jump out (to me, at least)

I doubt it. The Anaconda is far more popular in videogames than the S&W-- more likely than not they were playing a game like V:TM Bloodlines or somethign and thought "Hey, that's a fucking awesome looking revolver".

As for differences? The Anaconda's handle is angled better, the sights are different (and run along the length of the barrel), and its barrel is reinforced both above and below. It has six shots instead of five (Dirty Harry's gun had five shots, thus his famous "are you feeling lucky" quote). The Anaconda also has somewhat sturdier construction on the smith and weston as well. It also generally does have a shiny silvery finish, although there are models which are blackened.

the gun seems to be the only thing really worth it though! I tested the new watches and here are the plus and minus I found

the stand still watch does work great for certain maps where it's long and ammo packs are very far

the stand still watch cloak time drains faster than the old watch by 50% than the old watch! I disquised as scout using both watches and it took all my cloak time to reach the first point on the first part of dustbowl. (I was on my server and I didn't add any mods) However, using the old watch I still had half cloack time so, I suggest stay with the old watch for most maps.

the olone watch (the ice clone watch I call it) does NOT let u CLOAK! The only time u can cloak is when u get hit and clone whoever shot u! While your cloaked your only cloaked for 8 SECONDS! If you uncloak anytime within those 8 secs u can't cloack again. I uncloak after 3 but I could go back to cloak! So do not use this watch at all in ARENA MAP! Unless your highly skilled go ahead but for newbs stay away from it.

the gun does work as the video cleary shows it, but be careful using it against skilled players and people with mics that can easily kill u.

Surprisingly it only took me 2 hours play SNIPER to get the spy watches and 1 hour of spy in piplines to get the ambassy.

I'd only go for the gun as spy but sniper I'd get them all. It seems all the sniper weapons seem to be useful for all maps to me! I already have the shield (perfect if your learning sniper), the hauntsman and jar of piss is what I really want.

p.s... Has anyone gotten those fucking hats?

I saw a red scout hat but nothing else.

p.s.s. If it's gotta be like this for demo and engie oh my god people will go bonkers.

All I said was at a glance >_>

Also the S&W DOES have six shots Clint even says it.

This also confirms six shots. "Capacity 6 rd"

Looks like you need to do a little more of your homework next time lol

Or care more for that matter. Regardless, the Anaconda definitely fits more, even at first glance, to anyone who knows anything about revolvers-- you know, rather than peopel who know nothing outside of movies.

Actually, it doesn't work as the video shows anymore. If you looked a bit more carefully, he made a BUNCH of shots that were way off center and certainly shouldn't have damaged anyone. In fact, he kills TWO scouts in one shot at one point.

Observe.

Though they did patch it yesterday.
