h3gi 5 #26 Posted May 18, 2009 Shame.... I liked the meet the spy but was hoping to find out if the pyro is really a woman. I wonder how many pyros there would be if that were the case? Knowing Valve, they're going to keep it a mystery forever. They're pretty godly trolls and fit their content based on their clients, and part of Pyro's character appeal is ambiguity of sex. So for all we know, the Pyro's a robot built by the Engineer.

Rivanor 1 #28 Posted May 18, 2009 I love the "meet the spy" video. highlights: - the look of fear on the medic's face as he seems a mirror image of himself - the spy defeating the sniper... in melee combat! They obviously gave the spy special fighting abilities for this movie that he does not have in game. - the scout trying to break into the intelligence room to "protect" the intelligence - the scout being the red spy's disguise of choice (I also use scout quite a bit as my disguise)
h3gi 5 #29 Posted May 18, 2009 Courtesy of /v/. Also, I thought Soldier's observant "And a KNIFE!" after the Spy says "Then we've still got a problem" was a nice touch.

I love my RUH-ROH, but man... that soldier gif is tempting. EDIT: Why is my sig not even showing up? It's still there in my profile... The Moon Master 0 #37 Posted May 19, 2009 What the fuck is 'The Ambassador' a slow shooting pistol with the accuracy of a sniper rifle, apparently. http://www.teamfortress.com/spyupdate/

Melissia 7 #39 Posted May 19, 2009 (edited) The ambassador made me squeal with joy. Ah, how it reminds me of that sexiest of guns, the Colt Anaconda w/8" barrel. I will most assuredly use the Ambassador, even if it turns out to suck. Sometimes, I have to choose style over substance, and this one has style. +Henry Spencer 117 #40 Posted May 19, 2009 I will be using the Ambassador because it's easy as shit to snipe people if you have good positioning. The Cloak and Dagger will now make waiting for the opportunity much more bearable.
Melissia 7 #41 Posted May 19, 2009 Just because it has good accuracy doesn't mean it'll kill people in one hit. I sincerely doubt the ambassador will headshot like the sniper rifle does.
+Henry Spencer 117 #42 Posted May 19, 2009 (edited) I have to imagine that when they say "blood pouring out of a hole in their head", there is some sort of bonus for getting a headshot. Besides, think about it... that think looks like a .50 cal monster. I think a shot to the head would do at least a BIT more damage, even if TF2 isn't very realistic at all. I think the downsides will be a much slower firing rate (perhaps 1 bullet a second), a slower reload, and a MUCH louder sound. That way, you can't just stand in a random corner and expect to get away with 3-4 kills before the enemy figures out where they're being shot from. EDIT: Maybe instead of the last 2 negative effects, it won't crit UNLESS you get a headshot? That would make trying to backpedal out of a bad situation much tougher/riskier. Melissia 7 #43 Posted May 19, 2009 (edited) If it does do headshots, I'm in love regardless of the penalties. Otherwise, it's just a nicely accurate gun good for medium-long ranges. Spies rarely crit, as backstabs do not add any damage to the crit rate calculation and the rest of their weapons don't really lend themselves to giving a lot of damage quickly. So critting from a headshot is an improvement, not a penalty. Edited May 19, 2009 by Melissia
h3gi 5 #44 Posted May 19, 2009 This is a no-brainer. Unless it's massively slower or has another unforeseen disadvantage, I'll be using this 100%.
You suck and have no life 203 #45 Posted May 20, 2009 The real question is.... is your own accuracy good enough to make the accuracy of the gun matter? The original gun is already pretty accurate. In semi distance battles, I would probably take the faster fire rate. Obviously how much slower matters... if the new gun is twice as slow, then hell no.
Melissia 7 #46 Posted May 20, 2009 Depends, I snipe with pistols all the time in Combat Arms, but then that's a different FPS game, and the pistol I use there (Anaconda 6") is stronger and more accurate than any pistol in TF2.

+Henry Spencer 117 #48 Posted May 20, 2009 I get plenty of noscope bodyshot kills as a Sniper, so I'm thinking this gun will be pretty nice. Hitting the head might be kind of difficult, but not too bad.
friedrice 8 #49 Posted May 20, 2009 Screw the sniper update. I'm going sniper with the spy. The best part is that you can sneak around to different spots, picking off people. I heard that one of the hats they will be adding gives you scope abilities regardless of what gun you have. Be like Rainbow 6 all over again
DarkClaw 0 #50 Posted May 20, 2009 I wonder how many more parts there are to this update? I mean so far, the sniper only has 2 new weapons, but if they have the same number of achievements as before for the sniper, that would indicate that there has to be another unlockable coming? Also, if there is any new weapons for spy, does that mean that we'll unlock the 2 watches at once? (3 unlocks, one for knife, one for revolver, one for both watches?) My guess is that the spy will unveil his new stuff (still hoping for new knife maybe , new revolver is super cool), and then the sniper will get his revenge by showing off his last unlockable.
