Ultimately I don't care whether you get unbanned or not. I don't and probably never will subject myself to 24/7 dustbowl, so play away. However, I ultimately do care about the long term health of the servers, which are not being served by having egotistical douches berating their occupants at all hours.

The average person is VERY stupid. 50% never make it to college. The average IQ is 100. And even among people applying to medical school, the average MCAT score is 24/45. And when you are in TF2, you are in a place of above average stupid people. Why else would you see 5 snipers on the same team doing jack squat? Its fun aiming and killing nothing?

This isn't the military. Winning ultimately means nothing. Score ultimately means nothing. Most people play games to have fun, not be a part of the "serious business team" You would do well to remember that. If people want to play sniper when there are four already, it doesn't necessarily mean they are stupid. Maybe, just maybe, they just want to have fun spamming arrows. Who cares?

To me, humility matters to my fellow employees, engineers, colleagues, and professors. I don't need to be humble to a buncha newb TF2 14 year olds.

I think a perm ban may be a bit much at this point in time. I see a 30 day ban with a considerable probationary period afterward being a bit more reasonable. I was not present for any big blowups and personally I enjoy playing with most everyone on the server. I play to have fun, and I do have to say that YouSuck has been hard on some people and to be honest it has annoyed me on an occasion or two. Sometimes when you give people a second chance, they do take advantage of the opportunity and take the experience as another step toward wisdom. It is easy enough to perm ban him if he steps out of line thus as mentioned earlier I tend to lean toward the 30 day ban with a probationary period.

You Suck you are a damn good player and I did enjoy playing a medic/demo combo with you, we were a true asset to any team we were on, I hope that if you are unbanned that you will think a bit before you jump on individuals and bust chops. Perhaps you can use your skill and help some of the less skilled players by showing them a few tips and tricks and showing a good example of conduct as most players do on the Lotus servers. I know you have it in you, thus if you get a chance, make it happen.

Ban Reason: Donation Abuse

Summary of Events (Facts Only):

1. Been in the game for 1 hour

2. ae Dave joins the game and starts talking

3. I complain about his excessive talking

4. Within 10 seconds of him joining, he vote mutes me and has his ae clan members all vote so I was successfully muted.

5. Unable to talk to my medic, I rejoin server. Was vote muted by Dave again.

6. I rejoin for the second time. Switched to the other team and asked my medic to switch sides.

7. In order to prevent Dave from initiating more vote mutes, I vote muted him in attempts to nullify the vote mute timer. I did this 15-20 times only to Dave.

Not even a remotely correct version of things.

First, the assertion that my first act upon joining was to vote mute him without provocation is false. I only began the vote when, after I joined, he immediately began mic spamming insults against me and many other people. If, as he claims, it is a cardinal sin to prevent someone from communicating with their teammates, his verbal tirade certainly qualifies. Thus, the quick votemute. If he had waited 10 minutes to unleash, the mute would have been after 10 minutes. If had waited an hour, the mute would have been after an hour. If he had never done so, there would never have been cause for a votemute... and there wouldn't have been one.

Also, item 7 includes speculation about the future actions of another party and, therefore, cannot be listed as "facts only". In fact, as has been pointed out, the idea that he was attempting to vote mute me in order to prevent me from initiating a vote against him is nullified by the observation that during the times when he did NOT initiate a vote for a long period of time, no one initiated against him. Additionally, I believe it should be apparent on the demos and from the testimony of witnesses that he repeatedly said "I'm trying to teach Dave a lesson..." - in a nutshell, that people should never start a vote against him. This despite vote rates of between 10 and 25% of the server and being asked repeatedly by numerous people to stop initiating useless and obviously unsupported votes.

I believe that most of his defense, as evidenced by this thread and the original ban thread amounts to "it couldn't possibly be anything that I did". And therein lies the problem.
