Would you want a Teamspeak 3 server?

  1. 1. Would you want a Teamspeak 3 server going by the description in the thread?

    • Yes, but I have no mic/wouldn't talk
    • Yes, and I'd vocally communicate
    • No, I don't want to hear screaming kids
    • No, I don't see the feasibility of it.
    • Yes, but would only come on/speak to staff/important lotus members when needed

Teamspeak 3 is a client which is extremely easy to set up, it's similar to mumble, but is more effective and simple to use, not to mention more powerful.

From what I know and remember, Lotus clan is full of active beings, young and old-ish who roughly half I'd assume have microphones. It's very difficult to read peoples emotions and meaning through text chat, you might think people are being dicks when infact, it's just the way they type. Voice chat is more effective, efficient and you an get the meaning and the words across with ease.

You can make staff-rooms, passworded rooms, set up client-based permissions (Like the staff forums) which you can host meetings, or a red VS blue room where you have all your team mates. You have 3 speak options: Voice activation, key and off.

I could go through the endless possibilities of settings and pros/cons, however the question is, would you want it and/or use it?

Of course feedback and stuff is welcome, I am just getting "intel"!

I appreciate the initiative, and i think that a voice client would be a great idea.

I didnt like TS much at all, last i used it. My preference would be ventrilo. Lotus had a mumble server for a while provided by Afronanny, which was fun. Since Ventrilo servers arent that expensive, i may just rent one for Lotus.

I hate vent with a flaming passion.

I'd rank online voice comms with TS > Mumble > literally everything else > Vent

But, If I'm not in my highlander team's mumble, I'm probably in a ts server with jackle, or both.

Mumble was super easy to use. Don't have much experience with TS.
Last time I used vent, I had a ton of mic and audio trouble, though I wasn't exactly sober.

At any rate, count me in as interested.

Last time we had a voicechat discussion, Afro provided us with his mumble server. Most of the time it was just me and 'Fro. (I still have yet to actually hear his voice.)

Teamspeak is easy to set up if you know how from a server perspective.

It's even easier to set up on your own PC. It works the exact same as Mumble, but TS is nice looking and just has -more-.

Am I the only one whose uses all 4 major ones out there (TS, Vent, Mumble, C3) and can't tell a single difference that impacts my usage or gameplay? I mean lets be honest, you press a button to talk, I guess I just don't really notice which program is facilitating that. Everyone (not just in this thread) seems to be die hard for a particular one and I have never understood why.

You're not the only one, I was thinking exactly the same. I have Teamspeak, Ventrilo and Mumble, and really can't tell the difference. Its just that different people I know are such die-hard fanboys/girls that I have to have so many clients....

I'm a mumble man, man.

Kitten and I are actually always in a local mumble server, because even though we're right next to one another we can't hear through our headsets!

But I think I'd make use of any kind of voice server that was made available.

Relationships these days.

I'm having Mumble and Teamspeak, but if anyone can get me a free vent client, i'd use that, too.

Don't know if they do. I don't use Vent, so I can't say if they want money for it. ;-)

i've done that before. until we decided to not bother the voice support. else i would usually have all 3 clients open lol

(take this advice, it's annoying as hell to help 2 people at once, while you have 3 bindings and have to figure what is to what and suddenly screws up everything. so therefor i say, DON'T bother it)

I wonder why i was ever hired as a programmer, when most of the time i do support. -_-

This Lotus server was a gift. And yes, I made that choice many a year ago and I've yet to be disappointed. TS3 and mumble disappointed me, just a little.
