I've generally avoided clans in the past because I felt they were useless. Now, I kind of like the idea of a clan to be able to get better at TF2.

Tell us about yourself and why you want to join Lotus Clan:

I've been playing TF2 for quite awhile and I've been trying to improve my game. I practice against the bots as often as I can and I try out different formats. I don't know if I can improve your clan all that much as I'm not an incredible player, but I like the idea of being part of a team to achieve a goal. 

 

I do have some previous web experience, so I may be able to admin the site if needed.

Hi, welcome to Lotus.  I will approve your app although I do need to get your hours played on our servers verified - I'm pretty sure you're fine though so I'm happy to give you the go ahead for now.  We have competitive teams within the clan in UGC and ETF2L but we are a social clan first and foremost.  As long as you enjoy video games and getting involved socially I'm sure you'll make a fine addition to our ranks.

In regards to my 5 games - is this like a test to see how good I am? I'm honestly not up to par on the whole 'clan' idea other than the fact it is a social club where one can get advice, tips and some competent players to play with

You don't need to be at a certain skill level to join us. We have players with few hundreds hours and players with several thousand hours of expirience.

Not 100% about the main reason of the games so I'll let someone else answer it.

Test isn't the right word. Think of it as the members introducing you to Lotus. We aren't competitive (unless you join one of the HL teams), so it's not like we're seeing how good you are

And yeah, a social club is probably a good word for what Lotus is

The idea of the five games is to introduce yourself to people in the clan gradually, to ensure that you're not someone who would cause trouble on our servers (e.g. by being racist or by abusing the voting system) and as an opportunity for you to show that you're serious about joining the clan.  The real fun starts though once you complete your five games and are accepted as a recruit into the clan.  Then you get more access on the forums where we arrange events, nights and tournaments...mostly for fun.

To become a full member, you first need to be a recruit for five months. After that, you are eligible to be promoted. Members nominate and vote on promotions once every month, so you need to gather a certain amount of votes in order to become a full member.
