So since highlander season is approaching like a fat chick spotting a 50% off McDonalds sale, it's time to start practicing!  

 

This thread will contain all of the information needed for our 9 members and subs - though if anyone else is interested in how the team is doing, I'll be posting match information, including maps and scores here.

The first two are usual practice times, so I expect people to be there. I know the third one isn't our usual day, but since we hadn't have any practice yet it would be good to play it. Please let me know as fast as possible if you can make that.

Some advice from a fellow highlander iron champion participant:

You should all play 2fort against a team of engies and heavy medics for 24 hours straight, that way you'll get used to constant mini sentries and invincible russians, after that a single mini sentry or a walking 450 hp sentry won't seem like a big deal.

When you see a pyro, do a 180 and go back to spawn.

If the sniper can see you, you're doing it wrong.

You should constantly do 360s or look behind you every 0.5 seconds unless you killed the spy yourself, and you're certain he didn't dead ringer.

As a scout, it is essential that you click on people.

If there's a wrangled mini sentry on flank, consdier taking another route or type "kill" in console.

When you're face-to-face with a buffed heavy, you have 2 choices, you can yell "LAY DOWN YOUR ARMS, YOU UNHOLY THING!" at the top of your lungs or you can calmly say "heavy is at <position, usually around a corner humping the medic>, I'm dead." in mumble.

If you see a cart, stand next to it, with the power of magnets, the cart will magically move.

At the end of the round, assuming you won, make sure to get as many crit kills as possible to pad your stats, if you lost however, you should work on that..

If you're about to get double airshot, or just humiliated in general, just press your "kill" bind followed by your "haters gonna hate" bind, it's super effective!

When you see a medic (the skinny dude with a ghost busters vacuum), try to kill him, he will no longer be able to destroy ghosts, and your respawn times will be much shorter.

As a spy, try to fool the enemy by disgusing as their ally, and if all else fails, press M2, in my experience fighting the french, these tactics have been superb.

And last but not least, if you play soldier, go for every single airshot, if you miss you can always say something along the lines of "my cat jumped on my keyboard" or "lag", also, it's very important to say something like "lol u suck gg get some skill nooblord" whenever you kill a sniper, this will assure him of your dominance and he will never go for a med pick because besides being emotionally scarred, he will focus all his shots on you. Side note: Taunting is optional.

 

If you follow these words of wisdom you will more than likely win iron, however, if you by some miracle don't crush everybody, you should always remember; it's not like you can get into a lower division, so you got nothing to lose. Well, apart from your pride maybe. Anyways, enjoy!

I have a current issue with my connection which means I lag for 2 seconds sometimes...it is at worst once every 10 minutes or so.  Sometimes it doesn't happen at all though for hours.  They are currently looking at it and performing tests on the line, weirdly they have been ringing me and updating me on progress twice a week which is more than I expected, so hopefully it should be sorted soon.  Next update is on Tuesday I think.

Still remember you coming from nowhere to jump in front of fatty and the medic on Lakeside at a scrim last season and reflect pills...it was a very nice move.
