D-Bee 3,448 #1 Posted July 29, 2015 A few times I've brought up the idea of a mentoring program where a less experienced TF2 player could hang out with and learn from a more experienced player. Are there any of you out there who would like some advice from someone in Lotus? Are there any of you out there that would be interested in being a mentor? It should be 1 on 1 to start, but if we get enough players we should get everyone together and teach competitive and basic strategy. Ideally, we'd go over everything from MGE pointers for their class to map strategy.
koKo_ 350 #4 Posted July 29, 2015 Also, im pretty sure most of the ppl in lotus arent so bad that they warrant 1 on 1 coaching. I think 6v6 scrims would work better, with at least 1 coach on each team
macamoose 2,574 #5 Posted July 29, 2015 i would like a direct request for suspicious turtle to mentor and teach me how to be good at the soldier class, thats all i want.
Cola Kid 230 #6 Posted July 29, 2015 Koko I think your wrong. as soon as you make it more than 1 v 1 or mentor/pupil there will be competition and you do not learn details that way.
D-Bee 3,448 #7 Posted July 30, 2015 68 views but very few comments. Maybe people are shy? My idea was to have the mentor spectate the student while the two were in Mumble together on a private channel. It would be easy for the mentor to offer advice that way that would be immediately helpful. Some things are best learned by experiencing them: sentry placement, Spy routes and hiding spots, Pyro routes and where to Spy check, best places to stand as Sniper, things a Soldier can stand on, sticky trap placements, who you should be healing on your team- when to pocket and not to pocket, times when you should just run, etc...

fever 9,884 #19 Posted August 5, 2015 I'll help, although I was at best an average pub player and I haven't played regularly for maybe 8 months at least. They'd have to be pretty new to the game for anything I can tell them to be "insightful".
