Sinophile 41 #54 Posted August 1, 2006 Don't do it. Breaching copyright laws you see. Even though it is in law public property, theres a guy that owns the site. If you do use it, make sure you clearly note you took it from the site. Just a warning, to those that actually follow the law.
[{BeatZ}]-BIG_aLvZ- 5 #55 Posted August 1, 2006 HOA! damm didnt know that well it is a public viewing dictionary i think the reason y the creator of the site put it up there is so people can use it lolz am i right?
Sinophile 41 #56 Posted August 2, 2006 He did put it up there for general public use. But he 'owns' the information, so you can't use it for 'profit' get what I mean? He could destroy the entire website and make a real book out of the info, and we can't complain at all. Hell, thats probably what the guys gonna do. Hes made a porn site before making wikipedia. Maelstrom 0 #62 Posted August 3, 2006 This has me interested. Even in the most ancient and primitive of villages walls were built. Mostly out of trees. In japan's fuedal times between small clans where warlords could rise and fall so unexpectedly, they had walls. Walls don't have to be necessarily strong. Since they would either be made to be the size of a person mostly out of tree-branches or nearing two stories high made out of tree-trunks. The former being more suitable for BR's Skirmish style of 'course since it takes alot of resources and time to cut down and transport the latter's massive trees. So, these small walls would never be really effective against an enemies oncoming slaughter, however walls are very important for keeping away other living, breathing things; such as wolves, bears, and large cats like tigers. As for the idea of new clans, although fitting, you know they don't really have to be connected to animals? Lotis/Lotus actually comes from greek mythology. It was a women who was turned into a lotus tree to escape from being raped, the second famous part is about a women who later finds this tree and eats a fruit from it, and transforms into a lotus tree herself. If you want the same clans in BR2 then it's going to be hard to think of new ones to add and still have the game come off as clean and cut. The reason for this is because each clan almost has their own world so there's reason, laws, and limits to their abilities. Wolf were the peaceful, natural, and land loving clan. Lotus represented honing of a darker nature, abiding to it's will and corruption. Serpent/Dragon were both more along the lines of tradition, prosperity, and maintaing or attaining power, the more civil driven aspects of humanity. I can't really think of a whole new clan with foundations of it's own to fit with all of them, but, maybe you can consider sister clans? Like the Wolf's clan having Bear clan as it's sister clan and Dragon having the Tiger clan as it's sister clan. Even though the asian theme wasn't done really well in BR, I'd like to stick to it since it's still rare to see an RTS based on the eastern civilizations' history and mythology. And of course because so many Anime fans being a good target for video games due to their involvment in media and the internet. Yup, there's three things that tend to go together alot; anime, internet, & videogames. Well, IMO the best route to take is new clan ideas altogether. Elements such as Water, Fire, and Earth seem old and overused but shows like The Avatar and maybe Naruto proven to me that nothing beats a driven and inspired imagination so that new styles can make the oldest ideas taste fresh. I see alot of potential for the elements in an RTSG especially if you consider teamplay, so, I definately propose something along the lines of the basic elements for new clans, also their clan names don't have to be mundayne and just be left as "Fire Clan." There are many forms of heat that have heavy influence in our world and lots of history on fire and the sun to draw from. -I'll continue this post later I gots stuff to do. [{BeatZ}]-BIG_aLvZ- 5 #65 Posted August 6, 2006 how about more asian warriors as it is an asian game.....
Sinophile 41 #66 Posted August 6, 2006 Well, duh. How about a less historically-correct storyline so Battle Realms is shown as a separate galaxy, rather than an offshoot of real life Asia?
[{BeatZ}]-BIG_aLvZ- 5 #67 Posted August 6, 2006 it has the asian theme but not an explosion of an asianish world... the units are a good selection but the grapics have o sense of asianishtic except the swordsmen and a couple of asianish units... the samurais arnt even asian looking... and what da hell do berserkers have anything to do wit asia?.... Sinophile 41 #68 Posted August 6, 2006 Bro, Samurai and Swordsmen look TOTALLY asian. Its just you don't hang around Chinese people enough. Jks. Lotus clan reminds me of Russians, Wolf Clan reminds me of Scottish people. Must be the hair. I think the game should have different structure enhancements, to differ strategy. What I am saying is, you can only build wells in select places; you can build turrets to shoot arrows from on your keep, you can drop rice and water off at Keeps/Town Squares, but can't create peasants there etc. Though shooting arrows from the keep would promote turtling... Meh, it's just an idea.
[{BeatZ}]-BIG_aLvZ- 5 #69 Posted August 6, 2006 yeh the keep should do something else besides the generator of heroes... u should be able to place range units in there or something like a tower... something...the keep should do something lol..
Speedy 11 #70 Posted August 6, 2006 LoL Samurai are probably the most Asian like units in Battle Realms
cptheslayer 2 #71 Posted August 6, 2006 For my idea, we need no new clan, but a new clan would be nice for us to try. We need no walls and other craps cuz we don;t want too many things going on in the game and the game will just crash. It is ezier to balance all clans with few things. Absolutely no aricrafts or boats. My Propose is to intoduce more new units and heroes to each clan. We need no new BG buildings. Make dragon spirit do all type of damage that way it is stronger. And make it work through dc, also make flash work through dc, it does not necessarily stop dc but it stunds other units. this way dragon has better chance of winning against lotus. Give dragon a spear master as a hero that has stun BG and whirl innate abilitiy. Of course this spear master has longer spear and does more damage. Give Serpent the orb that does more damage than spirit but the orb will destroy the serpnt itself more severly or something like that. Give kenji to both Dragon and Serpent. Give white wolf skull to wolf and give lotus the sacred garden planted with lotus trees. this garden can fuse some sort of units to make a new unit that is powerful and can bless BG to other units. Also allow Dragon Kenji to fuse with Serpent Kenji to form Kenja or something like that that has the power to do something. This is only for team play. Of course there would be a combo of every 2 clans or 3 clans or 4 clans. One more thing, I play Diablo II, and i like Amamzon character inthat game. Amazon is an archer; she can shoot multiple arrows and guided arrow. I love to see Arah acquire one of these skills. If not at least enable Arah to pierce her arrow through more than one enemies. The second hit unit will take lesser damge than the first, maybe 1/4 lesser. peasants are the most asian like units.
Speedy 11 #72 Posted August 6, 2006 About the Arah thing, LongTooth's BG is similar to what you are saying.
{Dark}WolfBite 2 #73 Posted August 7, 2006 Russians are definitely not linked to Lotus units. Lotus units are small, and skinny. Russian people are tall and hunky.
[{BeatZ}]-BIG_aLvZ- 5 #74 Posted August 7, 2006 hey cp if DF can go through DC then DF has no weakness and there is no way u can stop it... this is what will happen any long game wit a dragon player will win due to DF i think the dc being able to stop DF is a good thing also its not abused bcuz only lotus can stop DF but i agree wit ur other points.... lotus are some kind of monster side they dont look like any type of human kind...
