Melissia 7 #26 Posted June 3, 2009 (edited) Certainly, have fun trying to win. I do. And I win, frequently at that. And I do awesomely. But don't be a jerkass about it. This is a social game (TEAM fortress 2, not ME fortress 2), if you don't have any social skills you're going to end up making the game less fun for others. Also pay attention to Junction and Egypt, two maps I constantly declare aren't balanced (which indicates that they weren't thoroughly tested before release). Interestingly, the Arena maps seem fairly balanced.
kuttlewug 28 #29 Posted June 4, 2009 It doesn't bother me too much but today it was annoying I saw no spys on our team and i like to play spy so i switched to it. 5 minutes later we have 3 spys including myself which takes away the fun of it. So I went to sniper I wanted to try out the huntsmen some more and 5 minutes later what do i find? 6 snipers including myself. Seems like every time I switched classes everyone else did.

Despit the fact that three of those are probably the most popular maps right now. Goldrush is just as bad as egypt. Rivanor 1 #32 Posted June 4, 2009 Most of the time we stack up and join the same team is because we all listen to each other and know shit will get done.. Is that why? This is a fresh (no pun intended) perspective on the merits of team stacking that I have not previously considered. Also, goldrush, dustbowl, badwater, steel, are apparently also all bad by that definition too. Despit the fact that three of those are probably the most popular maps right now. Goldrush is just as bad as egypt. That's why these maps are popular because the further offense progresses, the harder it becomes. It allows each side to have some fun (offense at the beginning, defense at the end). I think it's a great formula. Although, I think that if Hoodoo is harder to win (for BLU) than Gold Rush, then it probably needs some tweaks, because Gold Rush is pretty dang hard to win on the final point. Once again, these stats demonstrate that Badwater is not only the ultimate payload map, but the ultimate map overall.
FunkyFresh 68 #33 Posted June 4, 2009 It's my reason, at least. I don't join the winning team just for wins. It's great stuff when both teams are even on the skill level and those big/long battles happen.
You suck and have no life 203 #34 Posted June 4, 2009 I think team stack arises naturally because psychologically, people like to hang out with other people of similar skill, interest, and abilities. This explains why Stephen Hawkins probably doesn't have many high school dropout friends, and Kobe Bryant, doesn't hang out with middle school basketball players. Despite the fact that three of those are probably the most popular maps right now. Goldrush is just as bad as egypt. Actually, by my parameters, just Goldrush is unbalanced. Which, as anyone who has played Goldrush more than say, fifteen times, should know. This is because it's easy to spam. However, it is, in ways, balanced because all it takes is a good pair of ubers and some helpful spies to take down sentries and cap the point. By the way, the parameters I'm using allow a little bit of leeway in the data for poorly coordinated teams. Is that why? This is a fresh (no pun intended) perspective on the merits of team stacking that I have not previously considered. No. These maps are popular because it's easy to spam through the map, something typically unskilled and/or lazy players are attracted to. Those of us that prefer to fight our way through a map via skill are more inclined to the balanced maps that reward teamwork. mexicilliano 0 #37 Posted June 7, 2009 As long as I am killing more people than are killing me, I don't give a shit. I used to think and play this way too, until I learned that on at least one map, the rate of spawning is different. You may want to consider the comparison between your K/D and the ratio of spawn rates. Also, are you killing just more pubbers?
Melissia 7 #38 Posted June 7, 2009 On defense as spy, my KD ratio can get as high (or even higher than on particularly good days) five to one. Defense has the highest respawn times. And no, I also kill lotusclan recruits/members and other skilled people. Noone can watch their back all the time.

I dont even get 5:1 on average as a demoman. Now this doesnt count in low score games. A 10-2 doesnt count. I want a score of at least 100-20.

I want a score of at least 100-20. 5:1 does seem pretty high. Although I will agree that defense is where the spy shines the most, especially on payload maps. Here is some random screenshot where I am getting 2.5:1 on defense/payload and this was a good day. If a spy can get over 1.0 K/D I'd say he/she is doing well. FunkyFresh 68 #42 Posted June 7, 2009 Once I have a pocket medic, the heavy can pull off those kinds of numbers. But it is probably the most points I've got as spy on a single map, so I kept it. And hey, how about these numbers I got in a game this weekend with Stove as my dedicated kritz medic? 51 kills, 4 deaths. That's the kind of kill/death ratio that I'd love to enjoy all the time. I want a score of at least 100-20. I agree with YouSuck. Unless you are pulling low numbers at the start of a game or something it is pretty difficult to have a ratio like 5:1. As he said even demomen have trouble reaching that ratio, including if they had a dedicated medic on them. Honestly, 3:1 ratio would be feasible for a demoman; were-as a spy, might not be able to pull even that off. A well played spy can do some damage, but I think you might have exaggerated just a little.

Melissia 7 #46 Posted June 8, 2009 (edited) Remind me to give a shit wether you believe anything next time, suckylife, and perhaps I shall. You can ask Miyari if you want, however; I've done that many times while playing on her team. At least twice recently, while on badwater. Miyari 33 #47 Posted June 8, 2009 It's all about the assists:deaths for me broseph. If I don't maintain at LEAST a 10:1 assist:death ratio I get pissed as fuck. Spartan_0214 18 #50 Posted June 8, 2009 I never use K/D or Assist/D ratios. They're not very informative. I always go by point ratio, which usually indicates how well you're contributing to the team. The problem with the straight ratios is that there are multiple types, K/D, Assist/D, Teleports/D, etc. Point ratio is quick and easy.
