Sari♥ 49 #3 Posted September 19, 2013 I usually get a chicken sandwich at Chick-fil-a with either a Dr. Pepper or a Fanta (or a cheap Fanta knock-off at the dollar store). I go to McDonalds every now-and-then usually for breakfast, but half the time they screw up the order. Hope I didn't take the question to seriously. -MW- 5 #12 Posted September 20, 2013 (edited) IMHO: Fast food is awful. I have never gone to McD's, BK, or Wendy's without hating myself immediately after, or sometimes during. Cooking should be done by hand, never processed, and never frozen. Fresh is best. Nothing will ever beat the smell of fresh garlic and butter in a pan. Jussayin. Also, they don't serve any decent wine or scotch at any fast food joints in Canada, so far as I can tell. But, in keeping with the theme of the thread: I prefer to go to small, privately owned restaurants. Never theme and NEVER chains. My meal would look like the house signature dish with a glass of matching wine or a nice scotch on the rocks. Edited September 20, 2013 by MorW

Possum 10,776 #14 Posted September 20, 2013 I generally reserve fast food for when I'm drunk, because its cheap, and you can't taste anything when you're pissed. One time when me and a few friends were in Chinatown, so much nice food, and they all want to go to McD. I just wanted to kill myself. Its not like it was even that much cheaper.

Unfortunately, I have eaten at places which served wine and good whiskey but I felt like going for fast food afterwards....you can't always pick the restaurant you want to eat in and unfortunately one or two friends will eat in the worst of the chains.

fever 9,884 #17 Posted September 20, 2013 (edited) I used to have a thing about shop signs not being clean...don't ask me why....but I figured if the shop front wasn't clean the rest of the place wouldn't be, ludicrous I know. I have since given up on that theory. My meal would look like the house signature dish with a glass of matching wine or a nice scotch on the rocks. While I can agree with you, MorW, there are times when you can't eat at home, or find anywhere fresh that DOESN'T break your bank. That's one of the reasons these fast food places exist, but if you're that concerned about it, there are some places that aren't quite like your typical burger joint, I know some fast food franchises, fresh, but smaller, prepare the foods there, by hand, instead of it being shipped processed to the restaurant. That's also the purpose of this thread, seeing where you go to get a fix when you can't eat as you normally would. I generally reserve fast food for when I'm drunk, because its cheap, and you can't taste anything when you're pissed. One time when me and a few friends were in Chinatown, so much nice food, and they all want to go to McD. I just wanted to kill myself. Its not like it was even that much cheaper. "How's that bottle of scrumpy now?" "I merely finished what YOUR liver started!" You guys must have really been on the piss, yet, if that is the case, how can you crave a burger, when you're in the middle of China? If you're somewhere away from 'home', I believe a good nosh would be found simply by looking around...or resorting to Google and Yelp. XD Interestingly, the best burger places seem to be the rather shady looking ones. The best burger i ever had i got in San Antonio from a shop i usually wouldn't even have looked at twice. That's because since they're lesser known, and non-franchised, it's usually a recipe that's in-house. Around here, I usually go to Picasso's if I want a really great tasting burger, that's made home-fresh. Nothing shady about the place though, so I might be missing the point. Another lesser known franchise, which is equally as delicious, is Culver Empire's. Fucking Nyom, mate. o3o I used to have a thing about shop signs not being clean...don't ask me why....but I figured if the shop front wasn't clean the rest of the place wouldn't be, ludicrous I know. That's why you usually see some franchisees breaking their worker's backs on scrubbing the floors, the walls, everything. Always on the job. Wendy's is a prime example. It wasn't that ludicrous, but you do tend to find the odd place that cares more about their food, then their appearance outside. Try getting an Über-stuffed calzone, for only $5 at a local eatery, that's only known to the residents of that city? I miss them, but MAN, so much STUFFING in their Italian foods, pasta, pizza, lasagna, you name it, meats, sauce, toppings...oooh. (Fucking Quote limits) Talk about getting burned online, haha!
