Possum 10,776 #51 Posted December 11, 2013 Yeah, but they're really hard to get. And if the admins ban you for them, boy, you are in real trouble, as there is only one server to play this gamemode on. Wish there were other servers, I get awful lag to this one...
Hello Kitty 948 #52 Posted December 11, 2013 (edited) Is...that even 'healthy'? 3D printing food...sounds...like so messed up. . To answer your question, Nasa has stated it does not provide nutritional value as of right now. For another interesting thing about 3d printers is that they can create pharmaceutical drugs and even create organs(organs are not functional right now and of course not standard 3d printers). I'm still very nervous about hearing it, I really don't... Printing Food. It just sounds so wrong. Food was meant to be cooked by hand with heart! Even in fast food places, if the person is an asshole that's making the food, the food's probably gonna taste like ass. Meanwhile, if someone who actually gives the tiniest of fucks makes the food...more than likely, it's going to come out finger-lickin good, REGARDLESS of where it was made. Unless it's impossible to create masterpieces like at McD's and BK.

point 2,268 #55 Posted December 12, 2013 Pardon my stupidity but how can it make pharmaceutical drugs? Do you mean it can make the casing, not the actual drug?
JMaster299 654 #56 Posted December 12, 2013 (edited) Pardon my stupidity but how can it make pharmaceutical drugs? Do you mean it can make the casing, not the actual drug? If it contains the ingredients necessary to make the pill it could make the whole thing. Think of it like this, in a hospital they have to have massive rooms filled with all sorts of different pills. With a 3D printer you could potentially replace countless drawers and bottles full of pills for a machine that you simple punch in a code to give you the dosage you need for a particular drug and it spits our the necessary pills. That machine is simply hooked up to supply of the required chemicals to make the various drugs, sort of like a soft drink dispenser mixing syrup, water and CO2 to spit out soda into your cup. Not only does this cut down on storage space and waste from packaging but it can also cut down on potential thefts. That doctor with the Oxy habit can't swipe a few extra pills. Every time he tells the machine to dispense drugs it's logged and reviewed as each doctor or nurse would have a unique access code or card to identify who is dispensing the drugs. Expand this concept to pharmacies and they wouldn't have to worry about being robbed by meth heads for pseudoephedrine pills. The machine could be secured like a safe to the point that the only access a user has is to the interface to request which medication to make. The store of chemicals is secured and refiled as needed by a special service. On a smaller scale a patient who needs long term care but stays at home could have a machine installed that is secure and that they can't access on their own. But their doctor can send an order to the machine remotely on a daily, weekly or monthly basis to dispense the pills the patient needs. But the most promising idea I have seen so far is using 3D printing to build a house. Long story short, a crew levels a plot of land and the machine then lays down a foundation and then starts to build a hollow frame out of concrete on top of that foundation. That frame is then filled in with more concrete. The machine even leaves the necessary openings for things like doors, windows, plumbing and electrical. That entire structure is built in a day. Then a regular crew goes in to install things like doors, windows, carpet, etc. A concrete home is actually cheaper in terms of building material but it not a popular option now as the current way of doing it actually requires more work then a traditional wood frame. Wood prices are affected like any other natural resource and if the cost of lumber jumps so does the cost of building homes. But there is no shortage of material to make concrete. http://www.ibtimes.com/3d-printers-build-entire-houses-contour-craftings-aims-print-2500-square-foot-homes-20-hours-video Edited December 13, 2013 by JMaster299
Hello Kitty 948 #57 Posted December 12, 2013 Pardon my stupidity but how can it make pharmaceutical drugs? Do you mean it can make the casing, not the actual drug? Like what JMaster299 said they would use the correct ingredients. They use molecules to construct the drug. A video in spoilers can explain it a little better. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QD2Rdeo8vuE
Barbaro 466 #58 Posted December 16, 2013 I'm not touching any food made via 3D Printer. It lacks heart. It's not natural. It's worse than Fast Food. Also, I meant to ask you guys, have you had any bad experiences with fast food lately? While processed food is defiantly bad for you, not everything you're eating in those places was made with profit in mind. I can vouch that unless you has Asshole Ashley working behind the counter, salads are typically made at the store using PPE and every vegetable and fruit is washed madly before being sliced. That and certain sides are also made at store.

Barbaro 466 #73 Posted January 14, 2014 Oh, i do drink. Moderately. For several reasons, one being "it's too expensive to get me drunk". I'll make sure never to buy you a drink...with the intention to get you drunk. I'm just curious about it due to finally being able to buy it here. I hear Red Wine can be good for you but there's like...a fuck ton of choices. Oddly enough, some places around here, fastfood and not, serve it. o3o
