luop90 4,400 #1 Posted October 12, 2014 Borderlands: The Pre Sequel is coming out soon, so I thought I'd make a thread about it. If you are living under a rock and haven't heard about the Borderlands series or Borderlands: The Pre-Sequal- How did you manage to never hear about this??? Go to this link http://borderlandsthegame.com/ Buy the game Borderlands (the GOTY edition is like $10) Play it. ??? PROFIT Anyway, for those of you who are as avid as I am about this game, and have been stalking youtube for videos about it, than you probably know everything there is to know about the game (so far). For those who haven't, here's some handy links, and info to fill you in- (its in spoiler tags for a reason. If you haven't played the other games, this will SPOIL some of the plot lines for you) Anyway, so, long story short, this game is taking place during the 5 years between Borderlands 1 and Borderlands 2. It will be featuring Handsome Jack's rise to power, and also why he considers himself a hero. All the playable characters have appeared in the past games, as either a boss or an NPC. (Or Claptrap, hes special). So essentially, here's the breakdown of the playable characters- Wilhelm the Enforcer (A boss in Borderlands 2, powercore is used to take down Sanctuary's shields.) (skill tree- here) Action skill is to deploy two combat drones, Wolf and Saint. Wolf is like a flying attack dog, he goes around and shoots at enemies. Saint is your personal medic, he stays back and restores your shield. Can be recalled before the action skill times out to regain some recharge. Claptrap the Fragtrap (He's also the Siren (how the hell they pull this one off idk)) (skill tree- here) Action skill is VaultHunter.exe Chooses an attack based on your surroundings and / or battle Can be completely bogous, or the best thing since sliced bread. Probably going to be the most played character. Athena the Gladiator (She's from the original Borderlands, helps you take down Atlas corporation) (skill tree- here) Action skill is to reploy a shield of sorts that deflects all frontal damage (and absorbs it to a point). When the timer is running out, you can pull a Captain America and throw it, causing massive damage. Can chain together hits (only with an upgrade) Looks like an absolute badass when doing so (cause thats always a plus right?) Nisha the Lawbringer (A boss in Borderlands 2, the steriotypical cowboy, only a female) (skill tree- here) Action skill is to become an aimbot for a short amount of time, with all shots having a 100% accuracy. Has a whip as a melee attack, has potential other uses (Kerberos, bad) Weakest melee damage, but longest range. Handsome Jack and her rock the bedsheets. The storyline (as of now) is realitively unknown. What is known is that Handsome Jack has hired you to help regain control of the Hyperion Satelliate, that has been taken over by crazy people who plan on using the laser to destroy Pandora. A lot of the fighting happens on the moon, with a bunch of environmental quirks, because this is Gearbox, and they like stuff like that. Here's some must-see videos that tell you all you need to know about it- ...than there is a ton of gameplay videos out there, google search to find them. So now that the spoiler is done, couple questions- 1) What character are you going to play as? 2) On a scale from 1-∞ how excited are you for this game? 3) When did you learn about Borderlands / when did you start playing the series? 4) Are you as obsessive about this series as I am? 1) I'm going to run through as Wilhelm first, and either Nisha or Athena for the second time through. 2) ∞ * ∞ 3) Back when it came out in '09, a friend of mine got it on PlayStation, and we played it till the disk broke from so much use. 4) Of course I am, I'm me.
D-Bee 3,448 #2 Posted October 12, 2014 I am still very excited about Borderlands, but could care less about these other games they have put out.
Domino 3,168 #3 Posted October 12, 2014 1) God damnit wheres my siren?! And I dont mean wanktrap. I want a real one. I'll probably play claptrap purely for the fact hes the siren (yeah the fuck right), or athena as shes a tank. 3) Can't say I'm overly enthused about this one, I played the whole of B2 co-op with my ex boyfriend, got very very rich grinding and then we split up. Never went back. I'm not sure if this will open old wounds or be awesome. I just dont want to play it alone. 2/4) Most definitely not as excited/obesssive/crazy as you Bonus question - did you play zero in the last one and bodyshot everyone?
+Dr. Obvious 14,606 #4 Posted October 12, 2014 I got all the achievements in B2, working on that in B1. Guess i made my point. :-P

fever 9,884 #6 Posted October 13, 2014 I played BL2 with Troll and he was helping me blast through it, which I was happy to do at the time. After we had played it a bunch though I felt no connection to the game. It felt like the scenery/story could be anything and we would run in and blow everything up and rush off. So I never got that into the story or understood what was going on. I think I'd love the game, I just need to find the right partner. I'll come back to it at some point, but at the moment I'm a bit meh.

The original was really well done, and it was more about the story of searching for the vault and discovering what Pandora was about than "We're telling you a bad joke and you're going to laugh dammit." Playing BL2 is like being trapped inside an advertisement for a game you don't care about.
+JB. 4,800 #8 Posted October 13, 2014 I played borderlands 2 and actually liked it, even though I stopped playing for some reason. Is this one a good way to get back into the series? Or lets say, would I understand it without having finished bl or bl2?

You know nothing about this game, Jon Snow. :-P The Tiny Tina DLC is a work of art in itself, and having a Psycho running at me while reciting Shakespeare is just one of the things that make B2 more than a bit fun. Yes, B2 requires you to explore to get more than just gun pr0n, but i still think it's worth every minute i spent there.

Canti 386 #13 Posted October 13, 2014 I tried to love this series, good Lord I tried! I just hate spending 2 minutes shooting followed by 10 minutes of math comparing all the stuff that's scattered around afterward. OCD really stops me from enjoying myself. No longer a Sexy King:^) 5,592 #15 Posted October 13, 2014 I got my Siren to Overpower 8, only legendary/pearlscent equipment and then i realized how much the Siren fucking sucks because she can't even solo the 4 Dragons. All this followed by a ragequit from the game. I did play every single bit of DLC (pretty much), and loved it, including the story. As much as borderlands Pre-Sequel seems okay, it's 50 for the game + 30 for the season pass, besides i can't forget those words: "This game won't have as much content as borderlands 2". Something along those lines, yet the price is still the same. Then again this has been discussed in other thread somewhere.

That's why i ordered in an online shop, got it for 35... which is still not exactly cheap, but this is one of the rare occasions where i will buy a game the day it gets released. ^^

+Dr. Obvious 14,606 #18 Posted October 13, 2014 BECAUSE EXPLOSIONS!?!?! I don't know if Torgue will even be in that game... :-/ Well, Moxxie would be a reason, but mostly because i want to FRICKEN BUTTSLAM SOMEONE THAT IS FROZEN INTO A FRICKEN ICYCLE. That's why. :-P

DutchKev 425 #20 Posted October 13, 2014 own borderlands 1 and all DLC - completed it all to level 61 (roland and brick) own borderlands 2 and almost all DLC (except new son of crawmerax) have a psycho at level 72 with legendary gear and perl gear - still play it now but hate to say this ...... i've NEVER defeated a raid boss solo (except terramorphous) pre-ordered the pre-sequel 2 days after it was announced - can't wait first run through will no doubt be wilhelm - 2nd playthrough will deffo be claptrap - i've looked at everyone's skill tree and wilhelm seems the best for my play style (kinda necromancer-esque)
luop90 4,400 #21 Posted October 13, 2014 Wilhelm is definitely my favorite out of all of them. Claptrap clearly had the most time put in his character, and Nisha too little (from my perspective). I mean really, becoming an aimbot for 6 seconds hardly is better than a shield that absorbs all damage or two drones that are absolutely badass. This does seem all about claptrap tbh It pretty much is, that is true. They listened to a lot of community request with this: people were asking all the time "can we play claptrap". And you have to admit: from a developer perspective, Claptrap is a dream come true. You can add all kind of crazy and even more crazy and then some random shit, and it makes perfectly sense... somehow. Claptrap is the joker in your team. Can be incredibly useful, or incredibly useless. So i guess the char with most potential for all kinds of situations.

If you watch some of the gameplay with claptrap, he's extremely strong as a support class, since he has so many upgradable skills, that change what VaultHunter.exe runs. One of them is "can't stop firing" where everyone gets like 300% firing speed and a massive increase in reload speed.
