Team Stacking By Donators

There's a fairly regular group of guys that play on the 24/7 goldrush #2 74.55.237.131 server that constantly stack the teams whenever enough are on. I've got a few of the names here.

Wonka [TECHNO]

Oobah [TECHNO]

Storm38 [Team Win]

Anyone basically with a [TECHNO] tag.

Now mind you these guys aren't in a clan. The tag is just something one of them put on one day and caught on.

Most of the time when I'm on the server its a shitty pug and this creates a lopsided disaster. Creating a non-fun, unfair, boring and useless endeavor.

Votescramble does nothing because all it does is look at points. And even it manages to even them up a bit, they can just switch back.

Not sure if anything can be done about this but it's very annoying and troublesome to the server and seems to be getting exponentially worse.

On the other hand, since they _are_ donators, it doesn't seem like they should be stripped of their donator benefits either.

I don't understand why they think it's fun to not have a challenging game. But I have no solution for you.

I wish people would stop whining. DO you not like to play with your friends. I remember plenty of times where /A/ would all be on the same team and owning and people would bitch. If people can't play on the same team as their friends, then whats the point of any game.

Get better friends and own the other team, stop crying and get over it. Don't like it? Find another server, oh wait just about ever server has people that play with their friends. Oh Noes!!!!

When the Conquistadors went to the Incas, the team was stacked. When Europe went to South Africa, North America, and Australia, the teams were stacked. The Europeans had guns, germs, and steel, and the natives only had stone and bronze tools. They ended up either getting shot, raped by malaria, or slashed by swords; and yet you don't see them bitching like you. I'm not saying the Europeans were smarter or anything, they just happened to have better plants and animals suitable for farming and domestication, which yielded food surpluses to allow non farmers the extra time to invent, create governments, and larger infrastructures, a byproduct of their environment. Take it as a lesson in life.

I stopped playing on the goldrush servers for exactly the same reason, it is always ridiculously unbalanced, and no matter what side you're on Father and his groupies are terrible to play with. Just come over to the stock maps servers, it is better competition and usually more even teams. Or you could play on the other goldrush server. It seems to be a little better.

But yeah. I "teamstack" all the time... by playing with my friends. Usually not even Lotus friends... I normally check out what game Phantom is in first, before anyone else.

Cut prettybad some slack guys. He's pretty good, one of the better players I've come across, and definately doesn't seem to be a whiner in-game.

I also played with the guys he mentioned. They're having fun, farming stats, and being successful.

I can't agree that the problem is a donator problem. The main reason I donated was so that I can play with my friends without being autobalanced, and that I can pick whatever team I want.

if you have friends on the internet, and you want to play with them you would normally wait in spectator or wait on the other team waiting for an opening on their team so you can join them. All the donator benefits do is A. PAY FOR THE FUCKING SERVER YOU ARE PLAYING ON. and B. CUT OUT THE WAITING TO PLAY WITH YOUR FRIENDS.

Actually I was on that server about a week ago and have had the same problem that Pretty Bad was talking about so I played on the TECHNO team. They got owned about 6 times in a row by Deadeye and others. Deadeye was up to about 500 points plus. It was a impressive thing to watch. I spectated Deadeye and watched his impressive spy abilities for a while before shooting over to Dusbowl. There are a lot of good players on that site and if you frequent I have a feeling that things will eventually even out. The natives are figuring out how to use guns...... and medicine?

I love it when teams are 11 v 17. I'll usually join the team with the most people just for kicks, but of course the auto balance usually ends up fixing it within a couple minutes.

Yeah, but there's also a changeteam function. I used and abused that feature in -G-, I'll freely admit. I just had so much fun playing with them. I don't use it anymore unless I really have to, but generally, I won't play without at least a few of my friends on a team. Generally, it just isn't much more than shoot shoot shoot kill kill kill without friends. With friends, it's shoot shoot fun kill kill fun.

I will have to say, I played off and on all day and each time the team was stacked one way or another, i went opposite stack each time. Lotus stock maps is getting horrible bad to where people are leaving the server for good. I think if there is something Mana can do, Now is the time

I think the problem, if you can call it that, is that the lotus servers have too many people who play mainly lotus only. Some days you end up with 1/3 of the people who play together on a regular basis, then 2/3 non regulars. The 1/3 play together because they know each other, have mics, talk, etc.

As you can see, the 2/3 who are on the other team get a little screwed.

That said, a lot of the regulars I play with always hit random. And to think stacking is a lotus only "problem" is dumb. Just how it works. The only way to fix it is to automatically assign people to teams based on their rank, which is a pretty dumb idea.

Communication wins games. It doesn't matter how good your players are if your team isn't communicating and coordinated. The worst player in the world (as far as aiming or being good at any class goes) can still be a huge asset to a team just by properly communicating important details during a game. Likewise, an amazing player will get steamrolled with the rest of his team if nobody has any idea what the hell is going on. The 'stacked' teams aren't winning solely because their players are good, they're winning because their efforts are properly being strategized and executed.

But every time I read this thread I want to just be like, "THAT'S WHAT YOU GET FOR PLAYING 24/7 GOLDRUSH." God, such an awful map.

This coming from Keg's pocket medic? right. 1 player can steam roll a team, have you never seen Keg when hes on the ball 100%.... A guy who can't aim will do nothing for his team cept play engi and we all know how well 7 worthless engis works.

There is no way to deal with team stack but when someone leaves a losing team just cause they don't want to lose = lamer of the year.

I have noticed a trend. Teams with the following class numbers tend to win the most.

2 Engy

3 Medics

6 Demos

5 Soldiers

= 16 Total

I see this over and over on lotus servers. Thank you Rydawg for actually being a regular AND saying this. Also the whole...blah blah blah I play with friends blah blah BS is just that, BS. I've watched regulars switch to the other team time and time again becuase they didn't like to loose. And thats when the teams stack starts in ernist.

And friedrice...yeah it isn't only on lotus, but boy oh boy is it more prevelent on lotus than any other servers I've played on. One reason why me and my friends find ourselves playing less and less on lotus. Sorry for the negitive rant mana, But something sure has to be done about this, what? I have no idea.....but something.
