A bunch of interesting comments on this thread. The team stacking only happens on a couple of servers that I have seen.... rotation and goldrush. Mana has 17 or 18 servers. This thread is also very similar to Chamrox's thread about skill players. Change servers if you don't like playing around the stacked teams. One thing that could discourage this is if Pyscostats was tweaked a little and gave you less of bonus if you are playing on a team with high skill players or lopsided team. That is the only loophole I see with the stat system. Hlstats is a lot worse though. I am sure that the stat thing is the reason for all the bitchin. The players being complained about are all in the top 50. I was on Badwater a couple nights ago and witnessed a ass spanking administered by Myari, nket, killerkeg, lunchbox and others. I am not stupid; I joined there team, but while I was playing I thought to myself..... who is on the other team and why would you just play game after game getting spanked like that? Change servers and eventually if there is no one stupid enough to play them as a team, they will have to play each other.

I will have to say, I played off and on all day and each time the team was stacked one way or another, i went opposite stack each time. Lotus stock maps is getting horrible bad to where people are leaving the server for good. I think if there is something Mana can do, Now is the time

I played for like 4 hours Saturday night and at first the teams were perfectly balanced on ctf_turbine and we had this thrilling finish in overtime where both teams had 2 captures and both teams had the enemy intelligence; the opposing team won but I think everyone was excited after the game due to race to the final capture.

After that, the teams quickly got lop-sided and I'm sorry to say that I ended up on the stacked team most of the night after that. I saw you joining the non-stacked team and I just wanted to say I appreciate you doing that.

I can tell you, I really don't enjoy rolling over the other team at all, and if they can't even get the first checkpoint on Badwater, I feel like everyone is wasting their time (including the team who is crushing them on defense). But it also is no fun to join the "weak" team and have absolutely no teamwork and just a bunch of lemmings running to their death.

I think I've had the most fun when me and one other friend play on the "weak" team and one of us is a dedicated medic for the other. Then even if our team is horrible, at least we as a unit are powerful and we can do _something_.

The only time I've used teamswitch since early -G- times is a few nights ago, when there was an votescramble, and I ended up by myself on a team, while all the other recruits were on the other. They asked me to join them, so I did. We ended up raping them all the way through the 3 parts of Dustbowl, but honestly, I did next to nothing to help. Me playing with friends didn't have much of an effect on the overall game, except that the team talked a bit more because I run my mouth a lot.

I don't think it's really team stacking in that case. It might be considered team-stacking when you purposely wait and see what team your friends join, then join that, but really... if I had a choice, I would much rather play with my friends, because most of the non-regulars don't have a mic and act like complete retards when I suggest we do something. At least I get a decent response with friends.

How about this for a solution:

Set point limits or a "skunk rule"

For example,

Say in Goldrush your team gets 15 points all together for winning a game.

So, BLU goes through all stages to win and get 15 points.

It's RED's turn to be BLU, but they can only score 1 point on offense.

The Score is 15-1 after 2 rounds, "original Red" are getting their butts kicked, have the server do an automatic team scramble.

Create a point ratio, on a per map basis,

15-1 = scramble

18-3 = no scramble

30-5 = scramble, etc...

Not saying this is the best answer, I'm an engineer and I like to try to solve problems.

The problem with an auto-scramble system would be that scramble rarely works. I have seen countless scrambles since the idea was implemented on the servers, and I would say 9 out of 10 times it just makes things worse.

I don't really understand why everyone makes such a big deal out of this anyway. Stacking is inevitable, and as long as the one team isn't being rolled, the game is usually fun no matter which team you're on. If I am on the losing team, I always stick it out, unless I really can't stand how they are playing, which is rare.

As for people playing with friends. That is definitely what I do. The regulars like to play on the same team because we all know each other, and guess what, the regulars are typically the better players.

Its TEAM Fortress, Team means people working together, you tend to want to be with your friends. Team stacking is not caused by people joining the winning team (doesn't help however).

I have no idea what you're talking about. I was asked to switch to the other team because they were complainig about teams being stacked and they wanted to say "oh here, you come over here and say it's not stacked" and Id id just that. The game ended and it switched maps after that game, it's not like I went right back to the toher team after one game. Can't remember any other time in recent history.

This coming from someone with over 600 hours of medic experience who enjoys communication and team-based gameplay. I don't want to blow your mind or anything, but Keg and I have played together and lost rounds - two people aren't going to carry the team on every map - especially not on offense. Just look at the times Keg snipes on offense, for example. He fucking wrecks kids, no sweat - but shit doesn't get done, and we both rage and he has to switch to demoman to compensate for the rest of the team. It's amazing what DOESN'T happen when a team isn't fully coordinated. Especially on offense maps like the last stages of Dustbowl and Gold Rush, maps that would typically require more than one uber or versus more than 2 sentry guns. Offense will lose unless people are keeping the pressure on the defense, communicating, and coordinating their moves. No matter how many people are 'stacking' whatever team. Apparently I'm "stacking" the second I join Keg, people are never happy because they can't get over the fact that someone else might actually be better at TF2 than them. I'm going to play with people who I know will actually acknowledge me, and respond to what I bother communicating and actually make an effort to defend the medic. If they don't, I will switch teams. People who don't listen to the medic deserve to lose the round - communication is a key part of our role and working with your team is apparently a big thing in 'team fortress.' Ultimately people are going to play with their friends - some people have paid $10 a month or whatever to be able to have that freedom to always be able to join their friends. I'd much rather play with people I know than deal with random fucknuts asking me if I'm 12 years old, telling me to shut up, spamming the mic, or harrassing me in some way.

your statement is very flawed. 1st off, comparing football which is arguable the least single player pro sport in the world vs a game where 1 awesome player can own a whole team is just, well dumb. You and Keg play together alot so i know you can see how 1 player can take a game over. Same shit used to happen when Tuxedo played. Teamwork can only take your thus far, you need skilled players to compete in any sport/game etc. To say that teamwork is all you need is well dumb. 15 v 15 is not stacked via number but the skill level is often tipped one sided very much and teamwork will only bring u so far. Add stacking to the mass demo spam and you got winners

i dont think it's a problem to play with friends i actually think it's a good idea what i think is the problem is that ppl are acting like playing a game with 6 friends and against 6 friends is un-exceptable.... from what i've seen it's every time any of the decent regulars join it's oh i dont want a chalenge i want this on easy (these ppl are realy good to).... so the not stacked team is like well wtf imma use a diff server from now on.... i dont think a compramize is unreasonable.... i think it's pretty lame how some ppl are like quit bitching or go away cause if they all did these ppl wouldnt have a team to play, and ppl say things like get better than, and it's realy hard to improve when you can stay alive for only 15-20 seconds before the spawn campers kill you.... but then again my opinion doesnt count even though i donate... i just wish that ppl would be a little more open minded about things and more conserned with having fun instead of winning and saying it's stacked cause they want to play with there friends... 4 ppl doesnt stack a team 16 does... lol but this is just what ppl make it seem like to me over the last 4 weeks i've been useing lotus servers.
